Nike and Supreme have a long history. The NYC streetwear label and Oregon-based sportswear brand have been collaborating since 2002 on some of the most anticipated sneakers. With the recently released Supreme x Nike Air Force 1 Low Baroque Brown being rather understated in this era of overly designed sneakers, it looks like they will continue this legacy.
The baroque brown edition, a follow-up to the black and white variants that debuted in 2020, uses a similar design language but makes a few notable changes. Instead of being made entirely of leather like its monochromatic ancestors, this version is made of suede and completely covered in a dark chocolate color.
Naturally, the necessary Supreme box logo is printed directly below the Swoosh. A work boot-inspired vibe is created by the chunky rope ties that tie everything together. Underfoot, the star-emblazoned Air midsole from the original Air Force 1 is back in a color-matched color. Everything comes in a limited edition co-branded shoe box.
Just take a look at the pair’s most recent high-profile Air Bakin, for proof that Supreme isn’t afraid to totally freak out with a Nike collaboration. That is precisely what gives this modest AF1 a more modern look. The stylishly understated brown suede here seems to herald a welcome return to simplicity in the sneaker world after years of loud, ostentatious kicks – splashed with metallics and tech paneling – that dominated the market.
The Supreme x Nike Air Force 1 Low Baroque Brown is scheduled to release as part of the NYC label’s Fall/Winter 2023 collection and will cost $118. Other than that, not much is known about the shoe. That is, of course, assuming you’re lucky enough to get it at retail.
