A visit to the Samet Nangshe Viewpoint is a fascinating and largely undiscovered attraction for Western tourists in Southern Thailand. If you are eager to discover a unique natural experience off the beaten tourist track, we have some valuable tips for your day trip to the Samet Nangshe viewpoint with breathtaking panoramas and the Andaman Sea right at your feet.
Day trip from Phuket – Discover the beautiful Samet Nangshe view point
The Samet Nangshe view point is a must see Phang Nga not to be missed and perfect as a half day tour from holiday destinations like Phuket or Khao Lak. With our tips we want to help you visit this dreamy place off the beaten track.
How to get to Samet Nangshe viewpoint?
There are several ways to reach the Samet Nangshe viewpoint. You can drive by yourself car or scooter via Route 402 from Phuket and then continue on Highway 4, or you can opt for organized transport or a taxi if you don’t want to drive yourself. Google Maps works great here as you have to turn off Highway 4 and drive through smaller villages before you arrive.
The Samet Nangshe Viewpoint is located in a scenic area that is difficult to access by public transport, especially for tourists. Having your own means of transportation is definitely the most convenient way to reach Samet Nangshe viewpoint quickly and comfortably. Alternatively, you can also take a bus from Phuket to Phang Nga and then continue with a private taxi, etc.
Moreover, it is also possible to use a organized excursion from other places like Phang Nga or Krabi. The trip offers a relaxing and scenic travel option where you can enjoy the beautiful scenery on the way to the viewpoint. Tickets for the trip to the Samet Nangshe Viewpoint can be found at various local providers or online.

Arrive at Samet Nangshe Viewpoint parking lot
After you have completed the ride, you will arrive at a parking lot where you can park your car or scooter for free. There are a few souvenir shops, places to buy drinks and also a toilet. From here you can go to the viewpoint. There are two ways to get there and two different entrance fees (see next section).
Opening hours and access
Samet Nangshe View Point is open daily from approximately 5 AM to 10 PM. So you can visit both at sunrise and at sunset to admire the scenery. Admission is currently 30 baht per person if you want to walk up from the car park. The ascent then takes more than 15 minutes. If you go up the hill and then back down in a pick-up, the return journey costs 90 baht per person. Using your own vehicle is not allowed, see the sign in the previous photo.
The Samet Nangshe Viewpoint
There were already quite a few people at the viewpoint during our visit. But because the area is large, it spreads out well and gradually you can take advantage of all the photo opportunities available on site. From small platforms to Samet Nangshe signs or even hearts you can sit inside – there are plenty of options for a popular Instagram photo.
You can also relax on the available seats and enjoy the beautiful view, instead of just walking around and taking pictures. There is no time limit. The pick-up trucks leave every few minutes to go back down. Since you probably won’t come here very often in your life, take the time to enjoy the fantastic view of Samet Nangshe over the Andaman Sea in Phang Nga Bay and the limestone cliffs. It’s definitely one of those most beautiful viewpoints that we visited in Thailand.
The environment at the viewpoint
Apart from the view from the Samet Nangshe view point– there isn’t much to do on the hill. On site you will find a number of small, very simple bungalows that you can rent. There is even a small terrace where you can enjoy the view. In this way you are more or less alone at the viewpoint early in the morning and late at night.
Furthermore, there is the Samet Nangshe restaurant and also a small cafe that you can visit. Food and drinks are also provided. We do recommend that you have enough water with you, especially when you walk to the viewpoint. The heat in Thailand and the physical exertion should not be underestimated.
