How did you get started in the beauty industry?
I grew up in Hong Kong and immigrated to New York City when I was 21 years old. I have always had a passion for skin care as I had very bad skin growing up in Hong Kong. Then I decided to pursue a career in aesthetics. In 1984 I opened my first spa at the famous 57 intersectione street and 5e avenue in NYC. The following year I decided to start my own skin care line, based on the Asian beauty principles of proper exfoliation and hydration to balance your skin. In 1986 I opened my second location in Barney’s New York. After a year at Barney’s, I decided to open my flagship standalone location in Union Square, NYC.
What is your typical treatment?
Our Energy Lift Facial with Body Wellness is our new signature treatment. This treatment uses our Energy Lift technology which uses infrared rays (FIR) to penetrate deep into the skin tissues to instantly stimulate elastin and collagen regeneration. FIR energy increases healthy blood circulation to the face to purify impurities and stimulate lymphatic drainage, leaving skin radiant and brighter. FIR energy tightens the facial contours and muscles and provides an immediate lifting effect.
What is your favorite product from your collection and why?
My favorite new product is our SparkLING Makeover Mask. This mask uses carboxy technology to draw massive amounts of oxygen to the skin’s surface. Oxygen purifies, rejuvenates and firms the skin, rose petal extract acts as an antioxidant, while warm spring water helps improve skin texture and replenishes nutrients. The result is an instantly brighter, lifted, firm and more youthful complexion.
Do you have a beauty secret?
My anti-aging secret for the past 40 years has been getting facials every 28 days, as our skin goes through a cycle of renewal. During this natural process, the pores can become clogged with sebum and impurities, which can lead to the formation of whiteheads, blackheads and acne. Clogged pores also reduce the effectiveness of skin care products by preventing essential nutrients from entering the skin. So it is important to have a facial once a month to thoroughly clear clogged pores for optimal skin health.

Do you have a favorite holiday destination?
I like to go to India every year, which is the region of the Himalayas. It’s nice to get away from the big city, where the air is clean and the landscape with the mountains is beautiful. I go there for my spiritual journey.
What are your plans for the rest of the year?
We are launching a new facial for the fall, so keep an eye on us.
