Remark: Now that seaweed season is almost over, most Caribbean beaches are free of sargassum. The ones listed below are clean all year round.
Palm Beach on Aruba, Caribbean Netherlands
Aruba, a Dutch Caribbean island, is known for its fine white sand beaches, lavish resorts and refreshing breezes. The well-known beaches, including Eagle Beach, Palm Beach and Baby Beach, are fortunately outside the hurricane belt and the sargassum seaweed belt.

One of the most beautiful beaches in the world, Grace Bay Beach offers crystal clear sea water and incredibly soft sand. This long coastline is particularly tranquil because it is protected by a barrier reef. At Grace Bay Beach the water bottom is pristine and smooth.

Playa Porto Mari on Curacao, Caribbean Netherlands
One of the most beautiful beaches in Curaçao is also one of the most beautiful algae-free beaches in the Caribbean. Playa Porto Mari, a private beach on the west coast of Curacao, charges an entrance fee (visit the Porto Mari website for hours and prices), but the costs also include access to some amenities.
Morne Rouge beach in Grenada
The island of Grenada has a beautiful, seaweed-free coastline with crystal clear water. Although it is less known than Grand Anse Beach and is also called BBC Beach, Morne Rouge is hardly affected by Sargassum algae.
Families in particular like to swim here because of the calm sea. If you’re looking for a family-friendly Caribbean beach without seaweed, Morne Rouge is an excellent choice.
Grand Anse in St. Georges, Grenada
Sargassum seaweed has not yet invaded Grenada’s beautiful Grande Anse coast. Aside from its beautiful beaches, Grenada is a popular Caribbean destination thanks to its artisanal rum farms, organic bean-to-bar chocolate, and mountains dotted with waterfalls.
Playa Norte on Isla Mujeres
If you really want to go to the Caribbean coast of Mexico, there are still a few beaches that do not have Sargassum algae. Sargassum tides are likely to hit the exposed east coasts, but some beaches, such as Playa Norte on Isla Mujeres Island in Quintana Roo, are usually free of seaweed. However, much depends on the wind and sea currents.
Secret beach Belize

Little Bay Beach, St. Maarten
Little Bay Beach is generally in pristine condition all year round.
This small island is divided between Dutch and French territories and has 37 beautiful beaches spread over 34 square kilometers. Sargassum can be an occasional problem, especially on the east coast.
Little Bay Beach on the south side of the island, just minutes from the capital Philipsburg, is an excellent choice if you are looking for a seaweed-free beach on St. Maarten.
Due to its location on a remote peninsula and the protection provided by rock outcrops on both sides, it is rarely affected by sargassum seaweed.
Southern tip of Antigua, Antigua and Barbuda
Although the opulent St. James Club on Antigua’s eastern windward side had to close for three months in 2019 due to a huge wave of Sargassum seaweed, numerous other Antiguan beaches often have no sargassum seaweed.
Curtain Bluff Resort is located on the southernmost tip of Antigua, on two beaches in a private setting where little seaweed arrives.
Amenities at the 72-room boutique resort include an all-inclusive fine dining restaurant, tennis, squash, sailing, guided snorkeling excursions and sea kayaking.
Playa PortoMari, Curacao, Caribbean Netherlands
