L
ondoners will always add a quirky and preppy twist to their style, and the LFW streets gave an approving nod to these observations. Bold color combinations and daring accessories were everywhere, but that wasn’t all. The streets were also bursting with the rebellious flares of otherwise seasonal traditional go-tos. There was also a revival of prints such as checks and gingham, and traditional tweed jackets turned into cropped versions. Oh, and let’s not forget bleached eyebrows, ugly shoes and a general fashion combination that were London’s street style favorites this season.
As temperatures drop, thicker fabrics are expected to make their way to the first rows of our closet. This resulted in creative layered representations that flooded the streets. Meanwhile, layered skirts, worn over ankle-high boots with oversized denim jackets, were the ubiquitous preference of people clearly dressing for colder weather. Of course, there were those who rejected the seasonally appropriate options and leaned toward a meager offering. London Fashion Week has breathed fresh air for transitional wear, and if you’re not taking notes, you’re missing out.
Check out the London Fashion Week street style trends your wardrobe needs ASAP…
#1. Layered numbers
You can always count on a layered dress to save the day. These classic beauties never go out of style. On the contrary, they adapt to trends and offer fresh styling options. During London Fashion Week, these timeless pieces were mainly combined with snooty and eccentric coordinates. As a standalone song, the secret is to play with prints, proportions and textures.
#2. Spiky substances
Spiky fabrics were ubiquitous on the streets of London this Fashion Week. Thanks to designers like Chet Lo, spiky textures were properly rendered in bold hues that further amplified their neck-breaking power. From dresses to tops and creative pieces, the range was both daring and cool.

#3. Checks, gingham and tweeds
Londoners will always have a knack for the conservative look of tweeds. Celebrities love Gabriel Union and top style influencers brought this trend from the front row to the high street, giving London photographers plenty to keep us happy.

#4. Quirky accessories
The ugly trend has been cyclical in recent seasons, and London Fashion Week style trends have seen more daring takes. While some style stars and runways interpreted head-to-toe ugly attire, others employed the wrong shoe theory for an unpredictable twist.

#5. Cherry red socks
Cherry red socks were all the rage this summer, but it looks like fashion isn’t done with them yet. A variety of shoes, including ballerina flats, were paired with cherry red socks in unexpected ways.
#6. Velvet and leather
Soft leather and velvet were everywhere in London. These pieces were in a hyper-feminine role. Whether you wear them separately or put them together to form magic, these textures are sure to be a keeper.
#7. Hoodies
The great thing about fashion is that it is a gift that keeps on giving. Hoodies have transcended sweatshirts and casual T-shirts into ethereal draped dresses that they show off. Simply put, the fluidity of fashion has become the permission to wear a hoodie with any look, whether casual, semi-formal or full-on red carpet, for maximum win.
#8. Clashing prints
Prints always represent the perfect blend of classicism and modern art and with endless styling options – tweeds against florals or gingham clashing with playful graphics – you’re sure to find a combo you’ll love. Look in your mirror before you go out to make sure these prints come together in harmony.
#9. Hardly any capes
Almost everything was on the front row of London Fashion Week’s style trends. The sheer dresses became thinner and the blouses were merely a precursor to the lingerie underneath. But one of our favorites were capes that simply hung carelessly on the shoulders, but with a firm grip. Combined with bralettes, denim pants and metallic accessories, you’ll understand why we couldn’t resist.
#10. The doll
What is a fashion season without an appropriate play of colors? Pastels on pastels, bold shades on vibrant shades and a pop of color against the backdrop of neutral shades unashamedly won across the spectrum. One thing all the techniques had in common was fun play of color, regardless of the theme: casual ensembles and graceful dresses, all tailored to the color festive season.
