After Valentino’s much-discussed couture show in July, especially Kaia Gerber’s opening look: a simple white shirt unbuttoned over there and deceptively simple jeans that are actually made of all-over embroidered silk with sequins, the look is trending right now. For the resort, Pierpaolo Piccioli expanded the look. The new offering includes more accessible, but no less glamorous, jeans with sequin embellishments at the hem.
Elsewhere, Piccioli follows the Valentino formula that has worked well for previous collections. Button-ups are layered under lightweight knits, while midi skirts come in bold embroidered prints. The iconic pink PP shade finds its way into sheer feather button closures. At the same time, the tomboyish mini shorts and ties from the Spring 2024 menswear collection have been updated and styled with thigh-high boots and a feather-trimmed cape that accentuates movement.
Valentino ranks number eight among Lyst’s most popular brands for the third quarter. This collection’s simple hoodies with a metal ‘V’ logo brooch in the heart and suede sneakers with rubber soles are proof that Piccioli’s appeal to a ‘versatile wardrobe’ that emphasizes ‘urban elegance’ is still a winning vision .
