Travelers often overlook this vibrant cultural city in the heart of Mexico. Cancun, Los Cabos and Mexico City may steal all the attention, but… Guadalajara should be on your radar.
Even places like Oaxaca tend to steal the spotlight when Guadalajara is one of the most cultural cities in the country.
All types of travelers would enjoy coming here, but this city is perfect for digital nomads.

Mexico has seen an influx of remote workers pouring in from other countries to take advantage of how great it is to live there.
Guadalajara may not be one of the first places you think of to call your next home away from home, but it should be.
There’s nothing wrong with digital nomads flocking to Cancun or another top destination in Mexico, but let’s take a look at why Guadalajara should also be high on your list.
Affordability

For many remote workers, the cost of living is often at the top of the list of concerns before turning to digital nomadism.
Guadalajara is the perfect gateway to this popular travel trend, but also a perfect fit for the seasoned digital nomad looking for a different environment and culture.
Let’s be real; everyone loves to save money! Guadalajara is the perfect place to do that while immersing yourself in this incredibly fun city.
A quick search on Airbnb shows centrally located apartments (with dedicated desks) less than $700 per month.

Not to mention cheap, delicious food pretty much everywhere. The tortas ahogados are to die for and you won’t break the bank by making this your daily lunch.
Sufficient co-working spaces
Digital nomads obviously need a comfortable workplace. Sure, you can score an Airbnb for days when you’re feeling antisocial.
And yes, we all have that That to dawn. But after a while, some interaction with like-minded people is quite fun.

They even have one Selina – where you can “stay, eat, work, surf and explore”. The surfing may be a challenge here in Guadalaraja, but this is a super popular spot among beach spots like Cancun.
Of course you can always opt for one of the city’s trendy cafés.
Great weather all year round
Unlike some digital nomad hotspots in Europe, Mexico is one of the best places for reliably nice weather all year round. It is no different in Guadalajara.
The weather in this region generally stays in the Goldilocks zone: not too hot and not too cold. According to WeatherSpark, temperatures rarely hit the 90s and we never see temperatures below freezing.

Spending time outside is almost always fun, except for the rain in late summer. So maybe this is the perfect time to go!
Charming small towns nearby
Guadalajara is a large city, even the second largest in Mexico. Yet sometimes it is the small towns that can be more attractive.
There is plenty to do and see in Guadalajara, but some of the small towns nearby are also a must visit.
Digital nomads will always find something fun to do or see in their spare time. All the small towns together give life to the already vibrant energy of the city.

Take Tlaquepaque for example. Just outside the cityscape, this town has its own personality and is very easy to get to.
Although it is not technically a small city with over 500,000 inhabitants, it still has the feel of a small city and is one of the pueblo magic.
Here visitors will enjoy the mariachi performances in the main square and the endless craft shops. For others, a trip to Tequila Town might be more your style.
But let’s be honest, with a name like Tequila, the name says it all, right? You can’t get any work done!

The journey there is one of the most scenic places in central Mexico. You pass endless agave fields and end up where the best tequila in Mexico is produced.
Tours are offered at agave farms and distilleries with household names such as Jose Cuervo and Sauza.
