Exuding Southern charm and low-hanging Spanish moss, this American state is known for its hospitality, hospitable culture and historic streets.
In the southeastern part of the US, surrounded by Tennessee and North Carolina, Georgia claims the title of the 24th largest state, with some of the friendliest people!
If you’re looking for a quick getaway, this is it 5 reasons why this is the best time to visit:
Beautiful cities
We’ve all seen the movies with those beautifully decorated Southern homes, cobblestone streets, overgrown trees and endless landscapes. While the entire state is diverse in its regions, there are certainly a few notable cities that fit this bill.
Savannah was actually in the top five of “Best Cities in the USA” by Travel and Leisure — and it’s well deserved! Savannah offers river views, spooky stories, 22 public squares, old mansions and the vibrancy of River Street.
For a quick change, Atlanta is another popular place to visit and offers a very different atmosphere than Savannah. This vibrant capital is a hub for nightlife, city vibes and an incredible variety of restaurants not to be missed.
Don’t miss the food scene
If there’s one thing Georgia is proud of, it’s the state’s eclectic food scene. One of the biggest factors that led to Savannah securing the top 5 spot? It’s a number of delicious restaurants spread across the city. (The Grayson was even named one of the best by Enjoy your meal!)
We’re talking biscuits and gravy, shrimp and grits, fried chicken, beignets… Georgia has it all. But if you’re not in the mood for a Southern special, there are other restaurant options to suit every appetite. Browse some restaurant favorites in Savannah And Atlanta here.
Charming accommodations
If you’re planning a trip to the Peach State, you’re probably looking for that Southern hospitality, right!? Luckily for visitors, that charm is evident as soon as you arrive.
I had the pleasure of staying at the River Street Inn twice during my stay in Savannah, and have never been treated with such respect and hospitality as I have here. The entire state of Georgia is filled with cozy accommodations waiting to be explored. By luxury stays Unpleasant beach escapes– they are all here.
Festivals & Events
Holidays, food festivals, family festivals. If there is something to celebrate, Georgia is there for you.
More than 40 events are planned across the state in the near future for everyone to participate in – so you’ll never run out of things!
Shoulder season
To be honest, there really is no ‘bad time’ to visit Georgia. What you’re looking for, activities you want to try and the prices you want to pay all determine the time of year you travel.
Many travelers overlook the shoulder seasons, and we don’t understand why! Especially for somewhere like Georgia, where the weather is still manageable, the crowds are a bit lighter and prices are dropping – we would book ASAP!
If you want to visit Savannah, this will help you decide.
An added bonus: mild weather!
Although it’s not in the 80s, the weather is still decent in the winter months and you won’t be cooped up inside! Between the 50s and 60s it will be mild enough to get outside and try some activities in this brisk state.
If you’re feeling adventurous, these are some of the best things to do in winter!
