“I wanted everything to be based on the square”: Spanish designer Moisés Nieto’s geometric starting point resulted in a spring collection full of patterns that wrapped around the body. The sleek and wearable designs were sleeker than in previous seasons, with black as the leading hue. “It’s a much murkier proposition than usual, but it’s a direct response to my customers’ demands,” Nieto explains.
The designer recently opened a new retail space in Madrid, which has allowed him to build a deeper relationship with his customers. “[This] is our most inclusive collection yet,” said Nieto. “We have diversified our sizes, and we will continue to do so [continue] to do the same in the future.” The collection also included some signature classics such as trench coats, this time with detachable collars, and mid-calf dresses defined by strategic drapes.
Fantasy was created thanks to raffia tops – the stars of the season – but also 3D floral arrangements and striking prints thanks to his collaboration with photographer Inma Mariscal, who took the vibrantly colored photos with her smartphone. They added an element of elegance to the offering.
