Helle Hestehave and Rikke Baumgarten often look to a specific muse. For fall, they took inspiration from the late Jane Birkin and injected a seaside holiday-inspired vibe into their designs. “Our goal was to radiate the charm of the south of France, a region where Birkin was frequently photographed in the 1970s,” Hestehave said during a preview. “She was known for her relaxed attitude to her style – completely cool and free – and we wanted to embody this in the collection,” Baumgarten added.
The collection, titled Baum Voyage, featured an eclectic mix of textures and silhouettes, perhaps to spark one’s wanderlust. There were charming blue and white gingham sets, denim tops with nautical lace-up closure and airy jumpsuits with floral print and trendy cutouts. Although known for their tailoring, especially their oversized blazers, the lace and knitwear felt particularly appealing. A paisley lace fabric incorporated into a floor-length maxi dress exuded a sultry yet carefree vibe.
A sequin midi skirt, a leopard print A-line mini and ankle-length dresses adorned with polka dots and cutouts at the chest were all curveballs. Although the collection felt particularly summery, the designers also offered camel trench coats with contrasting piping and denim blousons that could withstand varying temperatures.
