aAfter a three-year wait, the Fear of God x Adidas collaboration is finally here, uniting the realms of sport and fashion in an unprecedented way. Titled FOG Athletics, or Athletics for short, this collaboration merges seamlessly Jerry Lorenzos passion for basketball and tailoring, presenting a collection with the aim of redefining sportswear.
Lorenzo, the creative force behind Fear of God, introduces what he describes as the “third pillar” from the brand: Fear of God Athletics. This new addition proudly joins the brand’s esteemed main collections and much-loved Essentials sub-label.
According to the official statement from the brand, Athletics “completes the brand architecture of Fear of God, which was founded in 2013.” From oversized drill tops to track pants reminiscent of the NBA Tear Away pants, with a minimalist, futuristic twist: Athletics deviates from Fear of God’s traditional roots. The era of ripped shirts and skinny jeans has now been replaced by sharp lines and refined tailoring, showing the evolution of FOG.
After a remarkable catwalk show at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles and a low-key pop-up in Shanghai, the first collection from FOG Athletics has made its debut and lives up to all expectations. This ready-to-wear collection interweaves luxury with a functional style.
The announcement is accompanied by stylishly curated footage featuring sepia-toned glimpses of Fear of God branded glasses, sweaters and hoodies. While specific details about the clothing are not being made public, the debut line includes staples such as zip-ups, sleeveless tops, jackets, performance crew necklines and accessories.
On December 3, Athletics launched online at Fear of God and Adidas’ CONFIRMED. In addition, selected Adidas DTC stores will open their doors on December 6. Leading up to the release, the brand hosted ‘The Athletics Atmosphere’ event in LA from November 30 to December 3.
