The determination to “build from what we have” is central to BITE Studio’s success, according to the brand. The Swedish brand was founded seven years ago by the husband-and-wife team of William Lundgren and Veronika Kant and comes into its own aesthetically. Introduced for fall 2023, the petal shapes, in addition to customization, have become a distinctive brand name. The two work beautifully together this season in a look that consists of black capri-length trousers, worn with a matching button-down blazer, with the single ruffle of a sleeveless top peeking through. Think of it as a sartorial boutonniere. A chalk-colored coat with raised seams on the shoulders continues the gestural story, just as a lace print on silk separates pajama-like dialogues with delicate openwork knits.
Lundgren and Kant collaborated with Julia Hetta – who photographed Karl Lagerfeld’s exhibition catalog at the Costume Institute – on campaign images that capture the brand’s expressive minimalism; additional photos showing the clothing in more detail would have been a nice addition.
