In a year packed with gourmet trends—including Tomato Girl Summer and glazed donut makeup—it seems the latte dressing phenomenon has emerged victorious thanks to its staying power. And no one seems to have shown more of a penchant for neutral colors this year than Meghan Markle.
The Duchess of Sussex attended a number of events this year – from the red carpet to Prince Harry’s week-long Invictus Games in Dusseldorf, Germany – in coffee-colored outfits.
But just because Markle has a preferred color palette doesn’t mean she’s a snoozy dresser. In fact, some of her best looks were purely monochromatic. Take, for example, the gorgeous cream off-the-shoulder jumpsuit from Altruzarra – a masterclass in tailoring – that she wore to the Archwell Foundation’s Mental Health Summit last October, or the preppy cable-knit Ralph Lauren sweater cardigan she paired with. cropped white jeans at the Invictus Games.
Markle also marked a return to the red carpet in 2023, mostly staying in her wheelhouse. For Variety’s Power of Women event in Los Angeles, she wore a nude, asymmetrical Proenza Schouler dress. But at the Women of Vision Awards – where she was honored – she stepped out of her comfort zone and wore a strapless gold Johanna Ortiz gown, complete with a keyhole cutout.
