It looks like the Princess of Wales is already in the Christmas spirit. Last night, the princess went to Instagram to share a series of photos from a surprise holiday tea party held earlier this month as part of its ‘Shaping Us’ initiative, a charity project that highlights the importance of providing children with appropriate support during the first five year of their life.
For the tea party itself, which was shown as part of her third annual television concert Royal Carols: Together with Christmas, and released on Christmas Eve by British broadcaster ITV – Princess Kate spent time with a music therapist from East Anglia, a retired psychiatric nurse from Sussex and a youth football coach from Manchester. (She also shared details about the Welsh children’s love of music with the former, noting that Prince George loves the guitar, Princess Charlotte is an avid singer and Prince Louis is happiest when he plays the drums.)

Eagle-eyed royal watchers will have noticed something familiar about the look she wore for her festive tea party: a jacquard cashmere cardigan adorned with roses and mother-of-pearl buttons. The Princess wore the piece for the first time at the 2021 Christmas carol service, causing it to quickly sell out – never underestimate the power of the ‘Kate effect’ – and it seems she’s determined not to leave her favorite Christmas knit in the dust lie. If there’s one thing Kate knows, it’s how to pull off a royal re-wear in style. It also speaks to the more casual approach to style that the Waleses have been taking of late, with both Kate and Princess Charlotte wearing denim on their 2023 Christmas card.
