With many destinations in Mexico breaking tourism records in 2023, it’s time to take a look at lesser-known places that fly under the radar.
When it comes to booking a Mexican beach vacation, you probably think of Cancun, Los Cabos and even Puerto Vallarta.
There’s nothing wrong with traveling to the behemoths of vacation hotspots, but travelers are doing themselves a disservice by not exploring more of Mexico’s breathtaking coastlines.
One beautiful beach city is creeping up on travelers’ radars, with 2024 being the year this city starts to become more mainstream.
Here are 5 reasons why you should visit this lesser-known Mexican beach town:
New luxury Stay
In 2024 was the underrated coastal city Mazatlan welcomes a few luxury hotels to increase the allure of making this your next stop in Mexico.
In addition to the beach resorts, there will be a new golf and wellness resort with the appropriate name To dream. The Dreams Estrella Del Mar Mazatlán Golf & Spa Resort is scheduled to open April 2024.
Although this is not categorized as a beach resort Owned by the Hyatt brand is located on the beach as an all-inclusive destination in itself, with a beautiful 18-hole golf course, 8 on-site restaurants and a water park.
Currently, the resort is offering promotional rates ahead of the grand opening. Another hotel opening soon is the Fiesta Americana Zona Dorada, located in the tourist area Golden Zone.
However, no official opening date has been set as of yet. It is expected that even more luxurious hotels will open their doors after 2024.
An emerging digital nomad hub
As more and more digital nomads look to lesser-known destinations for new experiences, Mazatlan is one of the last places to lose its top-secret status.
Digital nomads fall in love with Mazatlan for a variety of reasons, but a few that need to be highlighted are security, insanely fast mobile internet speeds, and affordability.
Mazatlan may not be the cheapest place in Mexico, but it’s affordable enough to stand out among the mega-popular vacation destinations and see digital nomads filtering in.
The nomad scene will only grow from here on out. We back up that claim when we at Travel Off Path named Mazatlan one of the best digital nomad destinations in the world.
Authentic Mexico
Of course, finding a beautiful beach destination that stays true to its core also has benefits for digital nomads, but all travelers want a taste of authenticity.
Many super-popular destinations around the world cater to tourists with shiny new things, but Mazatlan is a mix of old and new that all travelers will appreciate.
Visitors will find charming streets with vibrant historic architecture throughout the city, along with modern high-rise buildings along the picturesque beaches.
Although the prices aren’t what they used to be, locals know it’s worth the price of admission for a feel of the real Mexico.
Whether it’s exploring its colonial-era streets or eating local dishes dating back decades, first-timers will fall in love with this city and see why locals don’t want their cherished secret revealed.
One of the most affordable Mexican beach vacations
As word spreads about how great Mazatlan is for vacationing, prices are sure to rise. As it stands now, Mazatlan remains one of the most affordable beach vacations in Mexico.
