Celebrities’ serial red carpet affairs and glitzy ensembles have only added to the glamor this month. With award shows happening on every corner in January, celebrities have plenty of reason to indulge in extravagant fashion. And of course they didn’t disappoint last week. A-listers indulged in the beckoning of sass and made a show of flashy offerings. From the 2024 Governor’s Awards to movie premieres, they paraded in lofty ways powered by high-profile attacks.
The appearance
Our lenses might have been on Taraji P. Henson’s Color Purple, but the way she lit up The Dolby Ballroom in a beautiful Valdrin Sahiti dress was the absolute truth. The hand-embroidered black and gold number with 3D leaf appliqués paired beautifully with her David Webb jewelry and gold manicure, resulting in an unmissable win. Plus, the side bob and understated makeup sent out a never-ending face card memo.
From Golden Globes to the 2024 Governor’s Award, DaVine Joy Randolph put on a ready-made show last week. She played with shades of red at both award ceremonies, but her coordination at the Governor’s Award took center stage. For the evening, the actress sizzled in an embellished, draped, off-the-shoulder Tony Ward Couture number that stood out with grace. All the details came together to complement her silhouette.
Black and white is a classic victory that never fades. The Governor’s Award was awarded Ava Duvernay did a solid A in a Louis Vuitton dress. The sweetheart off-shoulder neckline, layered white sleeves and flattering length underlined a femme fatale energy. Add her diamond jewelry and chic updo and you’ll understand why this is one of our favorite looks of the week. An absolutely red carpet-worthy moment.
