It’s a back-to-back red carpet affair with Hollywood’s top stars swaying confidently in exquisite coordination. As hyper-femininity coexists peacefully with androgynous fashion, the season will bring a plethora of contrasting looks. A week after the Golden Globes took place, the 29th annual Critics Choice Awards came to town, and the style rules were fluid. The unspoken theme seemed to be contemporary individualism, and the stars were prepared.
Honoring the best filmmakers and television programmers, the stars gathered for the awards and recognition, and of course, the style. The minimal team elevated neutrals with strategic accessories, while the flamboyant babes went head-on with glitter, volumes and wild cuts. All in all, the stars brought their best to the occasion, regardless of their style palette. But then again, that’s how stars do it.
The looks
Kiss from the chef Ayo Edebiris tomboy chic all white look. She served up a Whoopi Goldberg-inspired offering with an oversized white suit from The Row, styled with a simple T-shirt and finished off with round, dark sunglasses. This was an unpredictable break from her recent girly fits, emphasizing that the star can wear anything.
In the meantime, Aja Naomi King made a case for girlcore in a pink Oscar de la Renta mermaid dress with bow accents and a cut-out bodice. Clearly, Barbie season isn’t over yet. She styled this with statement earrings and a sleek ponytail, resulting in a youthful interpretation of quirky feminine energy.
Fantasy Taylor is undeniably one of the best-dressed stars on these style streets. Every look she has served speaks volumes, and the 2024 Critics Choice Awards were no different. For the occasion, she reiterated that her fine tailoring is no fluke, and made a show in an all-white coordination. Wearing a corset dress with a thigh-high slit by Alin Le’ka, styled with a flamboyant fur cape, she elevated the offering with embellished white pumps for more splendor. Ethereal elegance has never looked so good.
