Men’s Fashion Month has just set the global sartorial scene on fire, transforming Florence and Milan into vibrant hubs for tastemakers and trendsetters. We’ve only just been following Pitti Uomo and everyone was excited about what was happening in the front row at Milan Fashion Week Men’s FW 2024.
This season’s catwalks weren’t just about the usual suits and ties. There was a bold redefinition of masculinity, with femininity taking center stage and blending seamlessly into menswear with exuberant confidence. Think of co-ed shows like Dsquared2 and JordanLuca, where sharp tailoring embraced the fluidity and delicate fabrics. It was a sophisticated dance between traditionally masculine and feminine aesthetics, creating a fresh and captivating atmosphere. Colors also erupt in a riotous symphony and steel textures enter the show, ranging from subtle shimmers to outright swagger-inducing tactile experiences.
Milan Fashion Week Men’s FW 2024 was all about defying expectations. It was a vibrant celebration of individuality, where self-expression was key and the only rule was to break the rules.
Here are the top 5 trends during Milan Fashion Week Men’s FW24…
#1. Pants off
Last season, wearing pants without pants was a big deal in women’s fashion. Men are now dressing in skirts or, for the daring, in tights or even briefs to match this trend. Is this really what we want to happen? Fendi decided to design shorts that mimic kilts and skirts, but the brand also provided simple, low-key skirts.
Elsewhere, putting their masculine stamp on the style, MSGM boldly incorporated elements reminiscent of Miu Miu briefs. Are pantyhose really not considered pants? According to JW Anderson, the debate over tights versus pants will make or break the idea of what it means to be a man.

#2. Interesting use of color
When a riot of colors establishes its supremacy in a variety of shades and gradients, the Milan catwalk becomes a captivating spectacle. On the red carpet, celebrities are experimenting with their suits by splashing bright colors into fresh looks. Adding vibrant colors is indeed the easiest way to reinvent designs without making significant changes to the silhouettes.
Prada took a bold step into the realm of color blocking, designing combinations such as violet-yellow, green-pink and red-blue. Pronounce used a broad color palette to immerse each look in a kaleidoscopic character – a new dimension in their opening presentation. Dsquared2 boldly embraced color and combined it with shapes inspired by Y2K.

#3. Chest out
Have you ever gone out in cold weather wearing lightweight tops? This trend, which is usually more appropriate in warmer climates, borders on practically exposing you. Adopting the breezy look transcends cold weather; it’s about a strong, masculine look that enjoys the simplicity of a few pieces of clothing.
Gucci amped up every ounce of muscle with its display of power by supporting embroidered, flowy tops. Fendi adopted a bold strategy, launching styles with delicate yet pointed pleats. In addition, Dolce & Gabbana opted for a simple black tank top that, despite the glitter of Milan Fashion Week, managed to radiate luxury.
.
#4. Texture galore
Textures took center stage this season, sprinkled like irresistible edible glitter, just beyond the reach of cupcake buttercream. Despite men’s conventional tendency to eschew shiny and hairy foundations, why should we hold back in this modern era when the result is akin to embodying a seductive mascot? Embracing diverse textures has become a contemporary style choice.
Emporio Armani decorated both outerwear and eveningwear with an array of beads, jewels and gemstones; Dolce & Gabbana introduced sheer fabrics, lace and ruffles in their monochrome collection; and Gucci creatively incorporated sparkle into the collars, making a statement all the way to the neckline.

#5. The return of graphic design
Milan Fashion Week put graphic designs in the spotlight, with a diverse range of prints on garments that expertly walked the fine line between luxury and flamboyance. The emphasis shifted to avant-garde aesthetics, avoiding a destroyed appearance, as these visual expressions on clothing sought a refined and sophisticated appeal, complemented by innovative ideas.
Pronounce unveiled a collection inspired by Zhuangzi’s dream, in which designers Yushan Li And Jun Zhou translated the concept into fabric ropes and applications, capturing the graceful flight of a butterfly. JW Anderson, inspired by Stanley Kubrick The 1999 film “Eyes Wide Shut” contained influences from Christiane Kubrick intimate paintings of family life from the film. Meanwhile, MSGM has infused their collection with dynamic shapes and screen prints depicting a train passing quickly through a station, creating a sense of vague movement in their garments.
