Long gone are the days when we spent a huge amount of money on short flights of less than three hours.
Today, travelers are looking for travel convenience on a budget. To meet the wishes and needs of tourists, this travel trend makes that possible.
Wouldn’t it be nice to wake up in the morning and arrive at your next place at night? Traveling by train has always been a popular way to travel from city to city in Europe, but now 3 new routes have been launched… and we’re here for it!
More and more travelers are looking for impactful ways to become sustainable tourists in today’s world, and train travel certainly solves that problem.
BUT this type of travel is not for those who want something fast. Most European train journeys are definitely on the short side; However, long-distance travel between countries typically involves an overnight journey.
Train travel is no longer about cramped cabins and cramped conditions… These new trains set the bar high for wanderers. Think comfortable cabins for solo travelers, multiple fare options to choose from and plenty of space for everything you need during your trip.
Vienna to Hamburg
Run by the Austrian railway company ÖBB, the Nightjet sleeper train is a modern update of this company’s previous sleeper trains. Much is still unknown, but what we do know is that this route takes you from Vienna to Hamburg in one night.
The new model is ideal for solo female travelers and offers mini cabins with lockable doors. Believe it or not, most sleeper trains don’t have this option, but the Nightjet offers peace of mind for those looking for the security of a lockable cabin.
With varying rates depending on your trip and comfort level, prices range from $44 to $125 per person. Travelers can expect a sheet, blanket and pillow in their cabin, along with some storage space and portable USB sockets.
Paris to Berlin
ÖBB heard the buzz about train travel… And they delivered! In addition to launching the Vienna-Hamburg route, the company also has a Paris to Berlin route owned by Nightjet.
Trains depart from Paris and stop en route to Strasbourg, Frankfurt, Erfurt and Berlin Südkreuz before reaching Berlin Central Station.
You will depart Paris at 7:12 PM and arrive in Berlin at 8:26 AM. You’ll be in your new city before you can say Sleeper Train. For the time being, the train runs 3 times a week, but next fall there will be daily service options for travelers.
Brussels to Prague
If two European routes aren’t enough, there’s a third! With a set launch date of March 25, 2024, Rail start-up European Sleeper has announced their launch Brussels to Prague choice.
The train is an extension of the journey from Brussels to Berlin and will make a number of notable stops along the way, including: Antwerp, Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Berlin. Although official prices have not yet been announced, the company does accept Interrail tickets – so book quickly!
Although this is only a handful new launches In Europe there are even more exciting announcements in the train world. Driven by the climate crisis, countries across the EU are stepping up to offer tourists sustainable options.
With new designs, comfort and safety in mind for those who may be traveling alone, Sleepers are back in action and that’s what matters. These trains are undoubtedly more modern than previous models and offer travelers a slick way to travel across Europe in a sustainable way.
General, “Trains emit, on average, six times less emissions per person, per mile than airplanes.” So if you want to travel this year and reduce your carbon footprint, this is a viable option! While this isn’t always the quickest or most convenient choice, it’s worth it in the long run.
