Flying to a new or distant destination should be an exciting experience, but if you choose the wrong airline, that dream can quickly turn into a nightmare.
Flight delays, cancellations, turbulence and even pilot strikes can make a trip to the airport stressful.
So which airline should you use to best avoid these inconveniences?

These are the top 3 US airlines for 2024 according to the Wall Street Journal:
3. Allegiant
The third best airline in the US is Allegiant. The Wall Street Journal used seven different metrics, including how often an airline was on time, the number of customer complaints and any problems with baggage handling to compile their list.

Allegiant has jumped into 3rd place for 2024, after a decline in 5e place last year. This is good news for budget travelers, as Allegiant is an ultra-low-cost airline that manages to combine budget travel with reliable travel.
New data has revealed that airfares in the US have not been this cheap since 2009, and this is partly due to the services offered by budget airlines such as Allegiant.
Some of the metrics that have helped Allegiant rise in the rankings include its low number of flight cancellations, small number of tarmac delays and minimal baggage handling issues.

Allegiant offers nonstop service to more than 110 U.S. cities, but does not currently fly outside the continental United States.
2. Alaska
Alaska Airlines has not changed its position and remains the 2NL best airline in the US for 2024.
Alaska has the highest punctuality score of any other airline in the US, with at least 80% of their flights arriving on time. It also came first in the cancellations and extreme delays categories.

It’s not all good news for Alaska flyers, however, as the airline also came in seventhe place (out of the 9 airlines listed) for their baggage handling services, so it may be wise to consider flying with carry-ons if you choose Alaska for your next flight!
Only United Airlines and American Airlines had a worse reputation for their baggage handling services.
Alaska has taken this feedback to heart and according to a spokesperson, they are now introducing new tools and technologies to improve the efficiency of their baggage handling.

Alaska Airlines just announced a new daily nonstop flight between Seattle and Toronto Pearson Airport, starting May 16. This will be the sixth Canadian city served by Alaska and will join a selection of more than 120 destinations served by Alaska.
1. Delta
The best US airline for 2024 is officially Delta. This should come as no surprise, as this is the third year in a row that Delta has taken this crown, according to the Wall Street Journal.
If you want an airline that is likely to be on time, Delta is the best choice, as 83% of their flights landed within 15 minutes of the scheduled arrival time.

Delta also ranked first in complaints and involuntary bumps and the airline is considered so reliable that it has not secured anything lower than 5e place in one of the 7 categories.
In fact, Delta has a reputation for heavily compensating passengers who have to be involuntarily excluded from their flights.
Delta continues to grow and expand its flight offering, but clearly does not compromise on quality. In the past month alone, Delta announced 11 new flights from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport and expanded its network with new and returning service to Rio de Janeiro.

Whether you want to fly within the US or internationally, we know Delta is the best airline to choose due to its reliability.
When you book a flight with Delta, you can rest assured that you will reach your final destination with ease.
