The 66th annual Grammy Awards are just around the corner, kicking off tonight in LA at the Crypto.com Arena. Trevor Noah reprises his role as host for the fourth year in a row, taking the stage at 8:00 PM EST. The ceremony will feature performances from Burna Boy, Dua Lipa, Joni Mitchell and SZA; Billy Joel And Billie Eilish will be there; Songs dominating the charts and playlists – including Victoria Monét’s ‘On My Mama’, Drake and 21 Savage’s ‘Rich Flex’, and Miley Cyrus’ ‘Flowers’ – have all won awards. But before gold-plated gramophones are handed out, the biggest names in the music world will walk the red carpet at Capital-F Fashion.
As recent years have shown us, the Grammys red carpet is a special sartorial playground: a haute couture clamshell dress (worn by Cardi B. in 2019), a hat seemingly made for storage (donned by Pharrell in 2015) and a dress that falls lower than any dress has ever done before (ionized by Jennifer Lopez in 2000) are all acceptable. The dress code is more or less “Do You!” (even if that means arriving in an egg).
Tonight’s nominated artists have put pen to paper and vocals to the songs, conveying feelings and emotions that range from bliss to heartbreak, from pride to insecurity. So the way they express themselves through fashion – on a night where their music is celebrated for the whole world – is particularly captivating. What a thrill to witness.
