As the famous saying goes, there are only two guarantees in life: death and taxes. Traveling the world can be great, but it can also be a major turn-off.
Maybe you take a trip to Alaska, Iceland or Canada hoping to see the mesmerizing Northern Lights, but come up empty-handed.
Not every place is always what it seems, and it becomes even more unpredictable with natural phenomena.
Let’s be honest: how often is the weather forecast wrong? A lot of! When it comes to beautiful wildflowers, very specific conditions must be met.
California is one of the most reliable states when it comes to providing visitors with otherworldly colorful photos, but it also extends across the Southwest.
We’ve been buzzing with the bees, the rain dancing for the gods, and pointing our fingers into the wind to put together our best guesswork to give travelers their best chance to witness one of America’s most beautiful natural sights US National Parks.
Lassen Volcanic National Park
California may be making headlines for all the wrong reasons, but she sure is a beauty! Home to beautiful National Parks, some of which are more popular than others, you can’t go wrong immersing yourself in nature in this state.
Not a household name, but Northern California’s Lassen Volcanic Park is one of the best chances to witness a stunning phenomenon.
Known for its spectacular wildflowers, visitors often see them blooming in the summer months. However, California has received more rain and could see vibrant fields and hills full of blue lupines, orange and yellow monkey flowers and of course the California poppy.
Kanaleneiland National Park
Those ready for an adventure should look no further than Channel Islands National Park off the coast of California, between Los Angeles and Santa Barbara.
These stand-alone islands may not be a household name, but you’ll be telling all your friends about them if you time your visit well to witness a stunning structure.
Home to amazing landscapes that are incomparable to any other park on this list, even if you miss the ‘bloom’ you won’t be That angry.
This park consists of 5 separate islands, all home to wildflowers consisting of daisies and beach primroses that bloom in winter and spring.
Big Bend National Park
Let’s give California a breather and go deep, deep, deep into Texas, away from all the big cities.
Tucked away in West Texas near the border with Mexico, Big Bend National Park is popular on social media for its beautiful scenery for selfie takers.
Despite its remote location, it is one of the best places to see the state flower explode in color: beautiful Lupinus subcarnosusalso known as bluebonnets.
While these blue beauties are almost guaranteed to be spotted along the deserted highways of West Texas, bluebonnets transform the hills into an otherworldly shade of blue under the right conditions through late March.
Many species of wildflowers thrive in the park, bringing a new pop of color to the usual green landscape.
Pinnacle National Park
An hour and a half south of San Jose, California, lies a phenomenal National Park with wondrous sites perfect for wildlife spotting, cave exploring and rock climbing.
Wandering through this vast park will make you feel like you’re on another planet with its rugged landscape of gnarled rock formations.
Wildflower season only adds to the allure thanks to the already breathtaking scenery. Here, however, outdoor enthusiasts can experience the rare yellow mariposa lily and the California jewel flower, in addition to more common colorful wildflowers such as lupins, poppies and monkey flowers.
Joshua Tree National Park
This quirky side of California isn’t just made up of luxurious desert towns and world-famous music festivals. Joshua Tree National Park, just outside Palm Springs, is one of the best bets to witness a beautiful bloom.
Considering the beautiful weather is often a destination in spring, the dazzling flower blooms are just another excuse to visit.
