Florida is always among the top destinations for a fun, sunny escape.
As winter temperatures drop by the day, Florida is perhaps more of a focus for travelers than ever.
But let’s be honest: Florida is a great getaway no matter the season. Some even argue that there is too much sun at certain times of the year.
That’s what beach days are for, right? However, there is one major city in Florida known for its fun year-round attractions and not a beach within 60 miles.
This city is consistently one of the most visited in the US, and so are those in the know to predict it won’t become more popular until 2024.
Orlando is thriving
Along with Miami, Orlando is currently a top 5 destination in the US in terms of popularity, and for good reason.
Orlando is non-stop fun and not just for adults. This city is a safe place for the whole family or the perfect excuse to act like a kid again.
The ‘fountain of youth’ may not be real, but imaginations can run wild in a judgment-free zone at the city’s number one world-famous attraction.
We are of course talking about Disney World. Some would say that Disney World is more of a household name than the city itself.
But the heartbeat of Orlando, which attracts hordes of tourists, is without a doubt the best amusement park in the world, plus a handful of others.
What’s new? Orlando’s theme parks?
Disney World is the standout destination for countless hours of excitement, but many also enjoy visiting the Universal Orlando Resort.
Both parks are constantly adding new experiences, so it’s not the same every year. Do you know how hard it is to keep kids entertained?!
Whether the whole team comes to visit or not, Orlando’s theme parks are fun for all ages.
There are three new adventures to experience in Disney World for 2024:
- The Little Mermaid – a musical adventure
- Tiana’s Bayou Adventure
- Journey of water, inspired by Moana (already opened, but new for most visitors)
For Universal Orlando, 2023 was a year of many debuts, including the crowd favorite Minionsland. This year, park guests can experience Dreamworks Land with popular characters brought to life from popular films, Trolls, Shrek And Kung Fu Panda.
If these parks aren’t to your liking, SeaWorld Orlando and Legoland Florida also have fun new additions, and may have smaller crowds, relatively speaking.
New luxury accommodations
Regardless of why you’re visiting Orlando, not everyone longs for Mickey Mouse decor in their hotel room.
Away from the magic of Disney are four new luxury hotels that will welcome guests in 2024. The new one is coming at Lake Nona Above Orlando Lake Nona opening doors this month.
In addition, there are a few new resorts where tourists can stay: Villatel Orlando Resort and the Evermore Orlando Resort.
Villatel comes with the caveat of a soft opening in 2024, with full completion expected in 2025. While the Evermore is a massive property with a man-made lagoon next to another new luxury hotel – the Conrad Orlando.
Some orlando hotels also received soft upgrades, the most notable being the 5 star Waldorf Astoria Orlandowith a review of selected rooms and culinary offerings.
Affordable and sunny
Even with luxury accommodations, Orlando is the place where fun days meet affordability. It’s not just Americans who are flocking to Florida; Orlando has also seen an increase in international arrivals.
It is one of the best connected US destinations. Travelers come from all over the world, knowing they can stay on a budget while enjoying the beautiful weather.
There’s even a new train that will reach Orlando from Miami for a Florida-packed route.
Bring your sunscreen for theme parks, the Everglades National Park or even beautiful Cocoa Beach, just an hour’s drive from downtown Orlando.
Wherever you go, this city has plenty to offer even on the extreme days of summer with interesting museums, immersive art like the soon-to-open AREA15, and educational experiences like the Kennedy Space Center.
