For more than a decade, Kevin Durants signature sneakers have been a major factor in Nike’s basketball game. While the recent models have been solid, fans agree that the 2011 KD 4, with its Zoom Air and Hyperfuse technology, reigns supreme. Its enduring appeal is clear, as Nike keeps it alive with great retro releases, and the most anticipated yet is the Galaxy KD 4, which released just in time for All-Star Weekend.
This iconic shoe returned on February 15, coinciding with KD’s long-awaited return to the All-Star stage after injury setbacks. Fans will be happy to see that it looks almost exactly as they remember: a cool gray upper, a large leather strap, space-themed details inside, and the coolest part: a glow-in-the-dark green sole.
The original Nike KD 4 Galaxy released in 2012, inspired by Orlando’s Kennedy Space Center and echoing a galactic theme in other Nike Basketball releases like the LeBron 9 “Big Bang” and the popular “Galaxy” Foamposite. The NASA patch on the tongue and speckled black and white heel pay tribute, creating a vibe that’s more reminiscent of a fun school space project than deep space exploration (and we mean that in the best way!). This shoe was amazing in 2012 and is still out of this world even today.
The Nike KD 4 Galaxy was launched on February 15 Nike for $130. Don’t miss your chance to get your hands on a piece of basketball and sneaker history!
