London Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2024 marked a major milestone as it celebrated its 40th anniversary and offered a week packed with the best and brightest talent in British fashion. The event showcased a diverse range of designers, from rising stars to established British fashion houses. Renowned labels such as Burberry shared the stage with emerging talent such as Paolo Carzana, a recent LVMH Prize semi-finalist, and Central Saint Martins alumni Susan Fang and Aaron Esh.
Traditionally, Burberry ended the historic week with a spectacular catwalk show in a marquee, bringing back memories of the inaugural LFW location. True to its British heritage, the Burberry show featured the iconic Naomi Campbelland models paraded to the tunes of Amy Winehouse.

Erdem Moralioglu was inspired by the late opera singer Maria Callas for his autumn/winter 2024 collection. In celebration of Callas’s ‘Greekness’, Moralioglu staged a dramatic show in an ancient Greek gallery in the British Museum. The collection featured opera gowns, cocoon coats and separates adorned with ostrich feathers, which vied for attention with pajama sets and printed cocktail dresses.
Meanwhile, Molly Goddard replaced corsets with elastic waists to accommodate modern wearers. The show not only featured an abundance of tulle and ruffles, but also vintage-inspired shirts with a cowgirl vibe, paired with jeans or polka dot skirts. Beautiful rose-adorned knits, a category the designer successfully developed, were also part of the collection.
Elsewhere, JW Anderson’s collection exuded a sportswear vibe with outfits consisting of tank tops paired with drawstring shorts, but the standout element was the exceptional knitwear. Known for his affinity with texture, Anderson treated knit dresses almost like sculptures, with buttons, pleats and pleats. The cozy atmosphere extended to shoes, with smart sheepskin boots, while some models wore curly, gray-haired wigs reminiscent of adorable grandmothers.
