But which city is the best of them all? A new report has found this city to be affordable, have a low crime rate, and offer exceptional experiences for solo travelers.
Here’s why this historic city was voted the best in the world for solo travelers:
A safe city
Prague is highly sought after by solo travelers as it is known as one of the safest cities in Europe.
Although there is crime in Prague, it mostly concerns petty theft and street crime, with violent crime in the city being very low.
The U.S. Department of State has given the Czech Republic a level 1 advisory rating, the lowest rating available. This means that US citizens should take normal precautions in the country and that it is a very safe country.
Like all travelers, solo travelers should be extra careful with their belongings in crowded places and especially on public transportation. But otherwise, even in the dark, you will feel very safe as a solo traveler in Prague.
Best for budget travelers
Prague has long been known as one of the most affordable destinations in Europe, and although prices have risen in recent years, that is still the case.
Everything you need as a traveler can be found in the city for a reasonable price.
Research has shown that it costs approximately €45-€65 per day to visit Prague as a budget traveler.
For about $5 you can buy a hearty and delicious traditional lunch at a local restaurant. And as of January, the price of a pint of beer averaged about $3.
In most cases, it is cheaper to order a beer in a restaurant than to order a bottle of water. So if you need an excuse for a pint at lunch, here it is!
Prague is more expensive than other Czech cities, but it is still one of the most affordable European capitals you can visit.
So much to see and do
No matter how long or short your trip to Prague is, there is always plenty to see and do. Prague is one of the oldest cities in Europe and has the architectural diversity to prove it.
One of Prague’s biggest tourist attractions is Prague Castle and it is definitely worth exploring. Other historical sights not to be missed during your solo explorations include the Charles Bridge, the Astronomical Clock in the Old Town, and the Old New Synagogue.
The Old New Synagogue is the oldest active synagogue in Europe and also one of the first Gothic buildings in Prague.
Consider booking a tour of all of Prague’s historic sites if you’re traveling alone, if you want to learn more about the attractions you visit and meet like-minded travelers at the same time.
A social city
Just because you travel alone doesn’t mean you ever have to be lonely. And if you’re a social butterfly, Prague is a great place to travel alone.
Spread across the city you will find an endless number of cafes, bars and restaurants. These are great places to meet locals and fellow travelers alike.
And if you’re going to work or delve into the world of digital nomadism, you’ll be happy to know that Prague is also a great place to work remotely.
There is no shortage of places to socialize in Prague. pubs, beer gardens, art galleries and creative centres. The Muddum Art Space is a great place to take workshops, discover your inner creativity and meet new people.
