The days leading up to the 2024 Oscars marked a style awakening for fashion-conscious celebrities and influencers. The glitz and glamor took center stage and kept the paparazzi busy. Additionally, the Green Carpet Fashion Awards spotlighted fashion icons like Zendaya, while Essence Magazine’s Black Women In Hollywood presented a heavy dose of black girl magic. Overall, textures stole the show last week, with sequins, leather and silk adorning celebrities in all their glory.
The looks
Zendaya has gone from merely ‘the moment’ to ushering in a new era of style. She is a fashion risk taker who consistently embraces trends and puts her unique spin on them. Collaborating with her style fairy ‘godmother’ Law Roach, the actress wore a crocodile print Roberto Cavalli archive dress adorned with gray fringes and metal studs at the Green Carpet Fashion Awards. Trust Roberto Cavalli to incorporate animal prints into every dress.
Elsewhere, Victoria Monet expanded the animal print theme with a snakeskin bralette paired with a flowing skirt adorned with floral details and a delicate crop, all from Roberto Cavalli. The ensemble showed off her edgy side and inspired us to prep our summer bodies before the season arrives.
Last week, celebrities leaned toward feminine choices. For example, Tams brought sultriness to the Billboard Women in Music event in a black feather-trimmed dress from Maison Alaia, while Brandee Evans opted for gold in an outfit that was anything but subtle.
