If you’re a digital nomad looking for the next place to explore, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better region than Latin America.

With vibrant cultures, remarkably low prices, breathtaking landscapes and the kind of food most people only dream of, the places that make up this beautiful region offer everything a modern professional could want and more.

Lately though three cities have become Latin America’s trendiest digital nomad hotspots, and below you’ll discover why people can’t get enough of them.

Mexico City

Although Mexico City has been officially dethroned by Cancun as the most visited destination in Mexico, the capital still retains that authentic urban charm that catapulted it to international popularity in the first place.

What Mexico City lacks in beachy allure, it more than makes up for in culture, convenience and endless networking opportunities.

And despite not being a coastal destination, the city still boasts the mild, balmy weather most of us crave, especially now that we’ve grown tired of the harsh winter – the average annual temperature is 15°C (59° C). °F), and if that doesn’t sound “perfect” to you, I don’t know what does.

Imagine how much your productivity would increase if you could enjoy the warm Mexican sun every morning.

Another great way to improve your mental capacity is to be inspired by the many, many cultural and historical sights that give the city its unique, fascinating atmosphere.

The ancient ruins of Teotihuacan, the vibrant neighborhoods of Coyoacán, the murals of Diego Rivera, the historic center of the city and Xochimilco are just some of the places not to be missed on your bucket list.

More importantly, you can experience all that culture and beauty for a reasonable price tag, especially if you choose the right neighborhood and avoid more expensive areas like La Condesa.

Buenos Aires

Although Buenos Aires has always been one of the crown jewels of South America, this year it has truly established itself as a top bucket list destination for travelers from all over the world.

Digital nomads who can’t seem to decide between the urban charm of European hotspots and the kind of lively atmosphere and heartwarming cuisine found only in Latin America don’t have to compromise here – the Argentine capital promises the best of both worlds.

The birthplace of the tango is home to more world-class theaters, art galleries, and eateries (which range from humble street carts to Michelin-starred restaurants) than you can count, encouraging digital nomads to find a better work-life balance.

Don’t worry, you don’t have to put your career on the back burner either.

Buenos Aires is currently witnessing a rise in coworking spaces and innovative startups (especially concentrated in Palermo Soho), so you’ll have no trouble at all finding professional or networking opportunities in the city.

Plus, the exchange rate between the US dollar and the Argentine peso is currently more favorable than ever, so budget-wise, now might be the best time to finally spend a few months (or even more) in Buenos Aires.

Medellin

Last, but certainly not least, Medellin is a place that has been repeatedly (1, 2) praised as one of the best digital nomad destinations in the world, and with good reason.

The Colombian gem boasts an eternal spring climate, breathtaking natural sights and a welcoming local community that makes even the most stressful work a lot more bearable.

I highly recommend choosing one of the many coworking spaces in the area with an open-air design that gives you the feeling of working in the middle of a park, without any noise or distractions – it really is perfect.

The community-oriented atmosphere palpable throughout the city also makes it easier for those traveling alone to integrate into the local culture and make long-lasting connections, both professionally and, more importantly, personally.

And with that, Medellin manages to find a solution to every problem that may arise during your digital nomad adventures, providing the perfect shelter for you to grow as a professional and an individual.
