However, the Caribbean covers a large area, making it difficult to choose where to go.

If you are looking for a once-in-a-lifetime trip, you’ve come to the right place. We have compiled a list of the 8 hidden gems of the Caribbean for the ultimate experience of the region.

Read on to reveal what lies in the shadows of the popular Caribbean destinations.

Culebra, Puerto Rico

Culebra Located about 20 miles off the coast of Fajardo, it is another tranquil island full of beautiful beaches and adventures.

One of the most popular activities there is snorkeling and diving, as the local waters have a rich and colorful marine life. You can even spot sea turtles. The chances are high around Melones Beach. They usually hide in the seagrass.

Sea turtles also lay eggs on quiet beaches, such as those at Culebra National Wildlife Refuge. Home to more than 80 protected bird species, the sanctuary offers plenty of birdwatching opportunities.

The best way to get there is by ferry from Ceiba. Alternatively, you can take a short domestic flight from San Juan Airport.

Secret Bay, Dominica

Would you like to exchange the hustle and bustle of everyday life for a place of seclusion and relaxation? In that case, there is nothing better than Secret cove in Dominica.

This world-famous resort sits atop a cliff overlooking the Caribbean Seaand it consists of private villas, each with designer interiors, a private plunge pool and an open terrace with views.

The villas are truly magical and you may not want to leave. If you want, there are plenty of things to do. Take a yoga class, enjoy a spa in the treetops, hike through the rainforest or sail during the sunset. Secret Bay is a true paradise on earth.

Devil’s Bay National Park, British Virgin Islands

Devil’s Bay National Park is a true hidden gem of the Caribbean, located on the Virgin Gorda Island of the British Virgin Islands.

Unique rock formations unusual for the Caribbean capture the attention of all visitors. Photos from the National Park often confuse people because it resembles rocks found in the Maldives or the Seychelles.

Devil’s Bay is without a doubt one of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean and offers perfect conditions for swimming, snorkeling or simply relaxing under your parasol.

Montpelier Plantation and Beach, Nevis

Looking for a unique place to stay? Choose Plantation and beach of Montpelier. As the name suggests, this resort is located in a former sugar plantation and you have the chance to sleep in one of the original plantation houses.

You can also book a candlelit dinner in the hotel’s 300-year-old restored sugar mill, the only restaurant of its kind in the world. It’s a phenomenal experience.

The only disadvantage of the resort is that the beach is a bit further away, about a 15-minute drive. However, during the day you can take a free shuttle.

Guana Island, British Virgin Islands

Don’t like five-star luxury resorts? The Caribbean also has plenty of tranquil destinations, such as Guana Island.

This 850-acre private island is made up of pristine beaches, rainforests, lush mountain peaks, and hiking trails that lead you through it all. There are only 19 villas and cottages available, so you can feel like you pretty much have the entire island to yourself when you’re there.

Plus, you won’t find any phones, TVs or computers in your accommodation, so it’s a great option for those who want to disconnect from the rest of the world.

Maracas Beach, Trinidad and Tobago

When you say surfing, the Caribbean is probably not the first thing that comes to mind. Until now – take a trip to Maracas Beach in Trinidad and Tobago and enjoy the free spirit.

It is an excellent surf spot – both body and board. And it’s home to great street food, known locally as ‘bake and shark’.

It’s already picturesque just getting there. You will drive along the North Coast Road, from where you will catch a glimpse of Paramin Hills and plantations of various herbs and spices. Make sure you also stop at Maracas Lookout for stunning views over the bay.

Pinel Island, Sint Maarten

Sint Maarten is a special place. And if you plan to vacation there, don’t miss the fascinating island of Pinel.

It’s easy to get there. Just take the ferry from Cul-de-Sac (no reservation needed) and you can reach it in a few minutes. Alternatively, you can paddle or kayak there, which is a fun way to explore Cul-de-Sac Bay.

Then you can enjoy Pinel Island itself. Hike up the hill with panoramic views of St. Martin, St. Barth and Anguilla. You can also just relax on the beach and have a bite to eat in the Yellow Beach or Karibuni restaurant.

Hermitage Bay, Antigua

Hermitage Bay is another one of those secluded resorts that are perfect for an unforgettable honeymoon or romantic getaway.

It is located in a quiet corner of Antigua, but not far from Jolly Harbour. It offers 30 individual suites, all complete with a plunge pool, day bed and outdoor shower.

In addition to chilling in your suite, you can enjoy yoga, pilates or various water sports on the beach. There is also a gym, spa and fantastic organic restaurant overlooking the beach.
