The gardens of Domaine de Chalamon would certainly have been a great source of inspiration for Van Gogh, who spent two and a half years in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence. The six gardens covering almost 37 hectares, which frame a 16th-century bastide in the heart of the Provencal countryside, which opened last year as a nine-room guest house, were originally designed almost three decades ago by renowned southern landscape designer Dominique Lafourcade. The new owners brought back Lafourcade to continue its transformation of the gardens and expand its vision, giving guests a unique opportunity to retreat into nature, where around every hedge are secret streams, footbridges and a rich diversity of flora and fauna are hidden around the garden. swimming pool are revealed. This botanical theme extends to the interior with walls decorated with 19th-century floral wallpaper by Stéphanie Montaigu and floral watercolor paintings by British artists Rosanna Morris and Flora Roberts.
