Amid Mexico’s meteoric rise to international popularity, it has become increasingly difficult to find a place where you can experience the country’s fascinating culture and world-class beaches in their most authentic form.

That’s why many of those who have yet to make that long-awaited trip south of the border are struggling to find exactly where to go.

While the appeal of mega-popular centers like Cancun, Los Cabos and Tulum remains undeniable, it is the culture and beaches that this beautiful island offers that draw the hearts of tourists.

Cozumelwidely considered one of the top islands in the Mexican Caribbeanhas become more irresistible than ever thanks to its world-class beaches and a charm long lost in flashy destinations.

Enjoy the beauty of the Mexican Caribbean

If there’s one thing no one can deny about Mexico’s Caribbean coastline, it’s how breathtakingly beautiful it is.

The soft, pristine sand, the gemstone-colored water, the bright green palm trees – it looks like something out of a painting!

That’s where Cozumel comes into the picture.

The picturesque island, known for its underwater caves, dolphin sightings and of course idyllic beaches, has become the ultimate getaway in the Mexican Caribbean.

Whether you want to explore the famous Palancar Reef, go on wild jungle adventures, sunbathe on the pearly white sands or simply take spectacular travel photos, you can do it all and more.

Airfares to Isla Cozumel are currently at their lowest level per year

If you’re convinced to give Cozumel a shot this year (I know I would be), you might not have much time to book those tickets, at least not if you want to take advantage of some great deals.

According to SkyscannerMay and April (in that order) are the cheapest months of the year to fly from the US mainland to Cozumel.

Round-trip tickets in May start at just $271, which represents a remarkable 42% drop from peak winter season prices, money that could be much better spent on accommodation or experiences.

Hotels and short-term rentals are also quite reasonably priced this time of year, averaging $115 per night, but with some great options for as little as $60; However, we will discuss accommodation in a little more detail below.

So there is still so much to do at the moment

Don’t let Cozumel’s island status fool you: there’s plenty to do here all year round.

While Cozumel’s famous Carnival was held in February and those wanting to experience it will have to wait until next year, spring also has a packed program of events.

Travelers who want to immerse themselves in local maritime traditions and learn freediver breathing techniques can attend Mer Days, ranging from March 25 to March 30.

Other can’t-miss events in the coming months include Santa Cruz de Saban’s El Cedral Festival, the Sacred Mayan Journey, and the Cozumel Ironman, to name a few.

Lots of great places to stay (and for pretty cheap too)

The only doubt most travelers have when going to a more authentic destination like this is whether they will be able to find the right accommodation. Fortunately, those going to Cozumel don’t have to worry about that at all.

There is no shortage of great places to stay in the area, of which there are many highly rated all-inclusive resorts whose rooms are quite reasonably priced.

Right now, you can book a room at Wyndham Cozumel for as little as $106, take advantage of The Explorean’s luxury packages for as little as $255, or search a number of great early bird deals that takes all the stress out of the planning process.
