There are few places on earth as breathtaking and geographically diverse as Asia, so if you’re itching to explore the continent but don’t know where to start, you are not alone.
That’s why data-driven rankings, like the latest edition of the Travellers’ Choice Awards, published by Tripadvisor are so essential for making a well-informed decision.
They spotlight proven destinations that millions of travelers have loved.
What caught our attention this year, however, was the fact that all five destinations that topped the list of the fastest growing destinations in the world were in Asia, proving once again that the continent’s insane popularity among traveler circles isn’t going away any time soon .
So without further ado, Let’s take a look at the five Asian destinations that people are loving the most right now:
5. Sapa
Sapa (or Sa Pa) is a mountainous town in northern Vietnam, whose natural appearance and breathtaking views are truly unparalleled.
Known for its terraced rice fields cascading down the mountainside, dreamy hamlets and serene waterfalls, this criminally underrated Vietnamese gem looks like it came straight out of a fairytale, so if you’re looking to add some incredible new photos to your travel album, you can stop reading now – you have already found your destination.
The only thing more fascinating than the breathtaking views is the local culture. Seeing the creations, festivals and traditions of the people who live here will give you an authentic insight into the Vietnamese way of life, which is more than what can be achieved. said for larger hotspots.
4. Palawan Island
If you’re instead dreaming of a more beachy vacation, then Palawan Island, one of the Philippines’ most natural destinations (and remember: the competition is fierce) is the perfect choice for you.
While Palawan has a lot to offer, the island’s crown jewel is without a doubt El Nido, a dreamy coastal town complete with limestone cliffs, a turquoise lagoon, and small, intimate beaches that feel like they were made just for you.
I can’t recommend taking an island hopping excursion enough – the karst formations along the Bacuit Archipelago alone are unlike anything you’ve ever seen before.
3. Halong Bay
Let’s head back to Vietnam to explore the wonder of Halong Bay, a mosaic of emerald waters, hidden caves and pristine beaches guaranteed to take your breath away.
This is the perfect destination for those who want to enjoy the splendor of the Asian coastline without the chaotic crowds, as the tranquil, laid-back atmosphere in Halong Bay is intoxicating.
The floating villages you’ll see here don’t even seem real at first, so if you make the (very smart) choice to visit Halong Bay this summer, be prepared to be enchanted.
2. Seoul
Okay, so now that we’ve visited a few quieter destinations, it’s time to explore a livelier hub for those who really crave the fast-paced energy of Asian metropolises: Seoul.
South Korea has been making headlines in recent weeks for its incredible tourism growth, and its capital is the main hub that travelers can’t get enough of.
It features the kind of mix of tradition and modernity that most travelers are looking for – you can explore places like Gyeongbokgung Palace that shed some light on the country’s incredible history, while also enjoying its modern, fast-paced atmosphere from neighborhoods like Gangnam or Myeongdong – it’s a win-win!
1. Tokyo
You might have seen this one coming.
Tokyo is once again at the top of the list of the world’s trendiest and fastest growing destinations, and it seems like the Japanese capital will only get bigger and more beloved as time goes on.
The combination of ancient temples, gardens and futuristic skyscrapers is something you don’t see often, and when you combine it all with the iconic culture that so many of us are fascinated by, you get a timeless hub that will never end. to amaze visitors (including myself) with its unique experiences.
Between the serene atmosphere of Meiji Shrine, the perfect chaos of Shibuya Crossing and the delectable sushi served along the Tsukiji Fish Market, Tokyo truly offers something for everyone.
