The 2024 Cannes Film Festival stole most of last week’s fashion. The internet was buzzing with amazing outfits from the event that aimed to quietly outdo itself. But the eclipse turned out to be a failure because each look stood up for its own faith and purpose. The looks

French singer Yseult Onguenet was the diamond of the 2024 Cannes Film Festival. The internet literally collapsed with its vintage-inspired offerings. Onguenet opted for a reproduction of the groundbreaking Christian Dior ‘New Look’ from 1947. Featuring a white blazer, styled with a black pleated midi skirt and accessorized with leather gloves, black pumps and a black hat, the look was the right way to buzzing in France. For context, in 1947, Dior presented their debut collection with over 90 looks, with this coordination being the main event of the lineup.

The past week was indeed a time travel affair. Jada Pinkett Smith teased her fans with a sultry Maison Alaia dress that she initially rocked 20 years ago! The black sleeveless number with metallic accents sat gracefully on her frame and reiterated her villain status. The Red Table Talk host first wore the dress to the 2004 Hollywood Awards Gala, where she mercilessly crushed the neck. And last week she just pushed it harder. We can all agree that it’s quite a mood to fit into your decades-old clothes and still look attractive.

In the meantime, Letoya Luckett was on an outfit roulette during the Black Music Honors event. Every outfit she shot hit the target. She started the evening in a futuristic Demi Blvck dress with high slits and exaggerated sleeves, then served up an overdose of embellishments in a pink number. This final look featured feathers, fringe details, beading and irregular proportions all screaming for attention in all-pink finesse. Her third offering was a midnight blue flowy dress with enough volume to slip into style. She then ended the evening in a gold dress with a deep neckline by Terry Costa, which caught the light with every move she made.
