Digital nomadism has become extremely popular, with some visa options being better than others.

Searches on Google for the term ‘digital nomad visas’ reached a record high this year, with a whopping 1,135% increase.

So if you’re a digital nomad considering your next move, you might be interested to know Visa Guide World has mentioned this culturally rich country as a destination with the best digital nomad visa in the world.

The Spanish digital nomad visa

It’s official: Spain is the country with the best digital nomad visa in the world.

The cost of living in the country is relatively low with an average monthly cost of living of 673.7 euros ($732) and the monthly minimum income requirement for the visa is lower than in many other countries at 2,600 euros ($2,800) per month.

Remote workers and digital nomads in the country are also eligible for a six-month tax-free stay. If you choose to stay past this point, you will be subject to a 15% tax rate.

And you might want to stay past that point! Although the digital nomad visa initially offered is valid for 1 year, it can be extended for up to 5 years.

Spain welcomes digital nomads and has the infrastructure to support them.

The country offers internet speeds of 248.25 Mbps and one of the best healthcare systems in Europe. And private health insurance is affordable here.

With so many factors in their favor, it is easy to understand why the Spanish digital nomad visa is so highly rated.

Why is Spain a good choice for digital nomads?

Apart from the favorable visa for digital nomads, Spain is a good choice for digital nomads thanks to its low cost of living, good weather all year round and fascinating culture.

The country is incredibly geographically diverse, meaning you can enjoy picturesque coastal towns and beautiful beaches, rolling green landscapes and epic mountains all in the same place.

There is already an established expat and digital nomad community here, as well as great infrastructure for digital nomads, including shared workspaces and cafes.

Despite the much-publicized protests, the Spanish people are generally warm and welcoming to outsiders and eager to share their rich culture and traditions.

Spain has a culture of being laid back and relaxed (which is what you’d expect from people who take a nap after lunch every day!) meaning that if you want to slow down the pace a bit, this is a great place to be.
