More than 1,000 gastronomic, critic and restaurant experts from 27 regions around the world just named Disfrutar “The Best Restaurant in the World” in Las Vegas on June 5.
The restaurant is owned by ultra-creative chefs Oriol Castro, Eduard Xatruch and Mateu Casañas, three Catalans who decided in 2014 to revolutionize Barcelona’s already excellent gastronomic offer.
Disfrutar has a “a clearly avant-garde cuisine where dishes stand out for their great, distinctly Mediterranean identity. In short, a restaurant where bold, fun and modern cuisine in search of taste is central.” reads their website.
As you might guess, visiting this place is not for every budget. Dishes start at €100+, but their “Chinese bread with caviar” or their “transformable dessert table” are definitely worth it.
The restaurant offers two parallel menus, both approximately 30 courses. With 30 dishes to sample, the party can last several hours. So be mentally prepared for an extraordinary gastronomic experience.
According to clients, table interaction is a tradition, but with a touch of elegance and humor.
In the words of the experts at ‘The World’s 50 Best Restaurant’, Disfrutar offers “imaginative dishes executed with exceptional technical skill and served in the most entertaining way” and states that “no matter which menu you choose, one thing is certain: you will have the dining experience of a lifetime.”
Disfrutar, which means ‘to enjoy’ in English, first appeared in the competition in 2018 and reached 19th place. In 2019 it climbed to number 9, number 5 in 2021, number 3 in 2022, number 2 last year and finally number 1 in 2024.
“If anyone had told us ten years ago when we started Disfrutar that we would be here in Las Vegas being crowned the World’s Best Restaurant 2024, we would have thought they were crazy. It’s just a dream,” said Xatruch.
“We can’t believe this… There are about 70 people working at Disfrutar and 120 people in our teams. They will be so happy, without them we couldn’t be here.” Casañas added.
The trio also thanked their country and all the people who contributed to their success.
But the evening would bring even more surprises for Spain, as two more restaurants would make it into the top 5 of the list.

This is not the first time that Barcelona has received international recognition for its entertainment offering.
Back in 2022, Paradiso was voted the best bar in the world during the 50 best bar ceremony in the world.
This bar has built a great reputation among locals and tourists as the best place to choose if you fancy a good cocktail.
Paradise is owned by Giacomo Giannotti and Margarita Sader and is accessed through a speakeasy-retro-style fridge door in a Pastrami Bar, in Ciudat Vella, one of Barcelona’s favorite tourist hotspots.
