African fashion continues to see a rebirth of classic styles with more modern adaptations. The fusion of Western and African fashion has become a global treat. This statement is evident on the catwalks, on the fashion streets and among celebrities, both on and off the glamorous carpets. Traditional prints dance with fashionable textures to create rich cultural interpretations. Nowhere is this juxtaposition more evident than on the streets of Lagos, which are infamous for their elevated fits that are practical enough to match the city’s vibrant atmosphere.
No matter the sartorial theme or occasion, Lagos fashion girls agree on one thing: eat and don’t leave crumbs. Every now and then a photo pops up on the internet with a Lasgidi-style star that does justice to hard slay. From intriguing outfits to muted hairstyles and cheerful makeup looks, the girls fearlessly tackle fashion in an effort to create solid branding. This conveys a subtle message: evolve to stay relevant without losing the touch. Fashion doesn’t stay static, and neither should you.
Check out the latest styles from Lagos fashion girls this season…
#1. Omawunmi Megbele
Green should be the color made for talented singers Omawunmi. The shade does wonders for her skin tone. For the second live eviction show of Nigerian Idol, she rocked a floor-length Vivid Oke kimono over a sleeveless floral print number by Hariike Styles. She completed the look with a green headscarf and gold accessories. This combination sheds light on the beautiful fusion that is good and green.
#2. Beverly Naja
There is always an animal print that takes precedence every season. Not so long ago, zebra prints made their mark on everything fashion, but this year leopard prints continue to win. Whatever form these prints choose to channel their expressions in, this 2024 comeback is as nostalgic as it is contemporary. Beverly Naja rode the wave of this revival in a leopard print midi dress with asymmetrical sleeves and simple sandal heels. The simplistic sophistication of this can be attributed to the lightweight dress or perhaps her beautiful natural curls.

#3. Kim Oprah
Everything about this look is trendy. From the SonAmie mini balloon skirt to the lace stockings with bow details and the layered double crop, the ensemble represents modern fashion with its unique twist. Former BBNaija star Kim Oprah amped up the look with clear sunglasses and a yellow bag to add color to the subtly toned display. Bows make everything look more feminine, and nerd glasses provide support.

#4. Tsakute Ladi Jonah
The ex-BB Naija housemate, popularly known as Saskay, attended the Itel RS4 City Tour Grand Finale wearing sporty denim attire. She wore an oversized sweater with airy jeans with athletic stripes and completed the look with white pumps for a girly flair. The heeled shoes added a touch of sass to the fit and did little to detract from the outfit’s commitment to comfort.
#5. Tolu Bally
Nigerian designer By Tolu Bally fashion card never refuses. She is the gift that keeps on giving. On his way to a business lunch, the villain donned a printed mini dress with a side slit, paired with a rosette-adorned jacket that billowed in the wind. While the dress functions as a standalone garment, the statement outerwear and strappy snake heels add finesse to a confident style.

#6. Beauty Tukura
Someone said there is no such thing as the perfect cool denim representation. Pass it on Beauty Tukura’s two-tone denim rendering for a contrasting result. Beauty, true to its name, was more beautiful than ever in the Fruché bottoms, styled with a bralette and a black trench coat. The distressed high-waisted jeans were the star of this show. Once you opt for great denim combinations, the headache of styling will be alleviated. This can be worn with numerous tops and still deliver excellent results. The moral of the story? Consider statement denim pieces that speak fluidly.
#7. Mimi Yina
While the maximalists have long made peace with sparkles as a key part of their ensembles, the minimalists are only beginning to catch on. Sparkles are officially everywhere this season. It’s normal to see a sequined dress or an embellished bag at a party, but designer Mimi Yina explored something less conventional: ‘agbada’. Agbada has long been a staple of African menswear, but in recent years androgynous concepts have made this outfit accessible to everyone.
Since then, women have pushed beyond previously unimaginable limits. This time, Mimi Yina, known by her company name MedlinBoss, added her shine to the traditional outfit by rocking it with a white collar shirt and sparkly champagne pants. Although the fit already exuded luxury, she added pressure with accessories: a hat, statement sunglasses, a quilted mini bag and gold earrings.
