Lately, the stakes have been getting higher in the Lagos style scene. The lines are no longer drawn at the boundaries of convenient expressions, but constantly trend towards impact and a generous display of personality. The season has taken away the restraint and further embellished the bold, with Nigerian celebrities and style stars flourishing on the wings of global fashion wherever they are.
The color and texture choices were an eclectic ordeal, merging individual personalities with the latest fads. Whether it was posing as seductive cover stars, attending a wedding or landing endorsement deals, the recent Lagos fashion story has been far from boring. The exciting cuts and rich fabrics set the tone for full-level steeze–a word that is almost becoming boring by well-meaning Nigerian style stars.
Check out cool Naija fashion views from the past few weeks…
#1. Temi Otedola
Temi Otedola became the first ever Nigerian to represent the L’Oréal Paris brand as a digital ambassador. Although beauty was central to her unveiling, the aesthetic would not have been complete without appropriate style.
She kept it simple and classic, in keeping with her personality, in a figure-hugging black dress, styled with chunky gold bracelets and earrings. Otedola’s offering is an important lesson that black and gold is a chic combination that never goes out of style.
#2. Sharon Ooja
Thanks to the BBC series of Marie Antoinette and Bridgerton, regal fashion has successfully crept into our closets. Sharon Ooja wore an army green dress by Ann Cranberry that was reminiscent of historical dramas – the kind where you waltz to a ball with the barrel. The dress showed off woven detailing on the corset hem and neckline and flowed into a pleated maxi skirt. The color, silhouette and understated jewelry from Boz Diamonds provided a royal finish.
#3. Shaffy Bello
Resort clothes, but give that rich aunt vibe. Renowned actress Shaffy Bello never misses an opportunity to announce her presence with a good kill. She paired a black tube with brown wide trousers and a loose-fitting printed kimono. In true Naija fashion, her oversized animal skin bag was the star of the show. It elevated the look with an expensive vibe as the hat amped things up with a touch of edginess. Another highlight of this outfit is the color brown. This season, several shades of brown are represented at the mainstream level. Consider combining coffee and chocolate brown for a rich, earthy finish.

#4. Veeke James
Talented Nigerian designer, Veeke James is on a roll, keeps every front high and shares it with its audience on social media. She has amassed many viewers with her cooking videos, couples content, and creative fashion coordination.
The latter goes further than a coincidence, as she showed again in a midi dress from Ankara from Luxe Xtra. The number featured a slanted neckline with exaggerated sleeves and a flared cape that flowed down from the waist. She styled the fit with gold accessories and wore her hair in a unique updo, evoking those great Mama Africa vibes with a contemporary twist. An African queen through and through.
#5. Like a
Singer Like a posed as a cover star for GQ South Africa in an LSP Studio fit. She wore a high-necked crochet dress and a furry black coat, and her locs were worn flip-up. The perforated dress and outerwear were a nod to the mafia woman aesthetic, but with an understated charm.
In a world full of vibrant colors and bold Naija fashion, rocking neutral shades has become a bold and independent style move. It often exudes confidence and sophistication with its versatility spanning every season.
#6. Ini Dima-Okojie
The shine from head to toe is wild and is known for an adventurous night out. While it fits the party girl aesthetic, it can be considered a cool daytime option with a retro slant. Actress Ini Dima-Okojie showed how it works in a sequin and metallic combination that is worn with ease and grace. She sports a metallic turtleneck top, tucked into a sequin mini skirt, and coordinates with silver block-heeled sandals and a crystal-studded Alexander McQueen bag. Monochromatic metallics are a cohesive trend that is all the rage this summer.

#7. Mimi Onalaja
This season, just like every other summer, bright colors are key. In addition, abstract prints and floral motifs take the first row without opposition. Even though it’s raining in Nigeria, style influencer Mimi Onalaja embraced the climate in lightweight, clear and beautiful expressions.
She wore a sheer long-sleeved top with an abstract print over bright red tweed trousers with a high waist to enjoy a luxurious dinner at a fine restaurant. The perfect outfit for a relaxed solo hangout. Even though catwalks and celebrities have favored more subdued shades this spring/summer, dopamine dressing has created a loyal cult for itself. Tis the season to deviate from the mainstream and explore interesting Naija fashion displays. It is an outlet to experiment with exuberant shades and sparkling clothing choices.
