A fall trip to upstate New York – some may call it cliché, I call it classic.
I know, I know, the hustle and bustle can feel too suffocating sometimes, especially now that New York has just broken its boundaries. all-time visitor record.
But if you take a moment to turn your attention away from The Big Apple and towards the many, many other incredible places the state has to offer, you’ll have the chance to take in all that New York charm available at a very attractive price. calmer and more pleasant pace.
That’s why today we’re forgetting Times Square, Central Park and the Empire State Building altogether and instead exploring some of the most beloved surrounding destinations.
So buckle up.

Even New Yorkers have often turned to Long Island refuge from the daily chaos of the city, so why not book a trip and experience it for yourself this year?
Whether you’re up for a fun beach day in the Hamptons, a more relaxing getaway in Montauk, or a movie-like stroll along the Fire Island National Seashore, one thing’s for sure: Long Island will blow your mind (probably already heavenly). -high) expectations.
And do your best not to miss the world-famous regions wine scene.
With dozens of wineries producing everything from award-winning Merlots to sparkling Rosés, a good tour is in order: thisin particular, is highly rated.
Adirondacks
Looking for a lake outside holiday instead?
You can’t go wrong with a trip to the Adirondacks, and if it’s your first time exploring the massif, Lake Placid is the perfect place to base yourself between hiking and trekking adventures – it can get a little pricey, but there’s lots to do do, and the viewed are simply to die for.
If you come here, exploring the Van Hoevenberg is a must, so make sure you bring some comfortable shoes and a light jacket (daytime temperatures in the area this time of year range between 50°F and 70°F or 10 °C and 21°C).
Hudson Valley
Just a 2-hour drive from New York City, Hudson Valley promises the ultimate relaxing autumn holiday, complete with picturesque restaurants, rolling hills and historic estates.
Here you can spend your days exploring the Vanderbilt Mansion, the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library, and the Rockefeller Estate.
Make sure you come hungry because there are more great farm-to-table dining options and wineries in the area than you can count.
Must-tries include Brotherhood winery (the oldest in the country), Blue Hill at stone barnsAnd Millbrook Vineyards and Wineryjust to name a few.
Cat skills
Can’t decide between an adventure getaway and a more typical cultural retreat?
Catskills offers the best of both worlds.
Here you can hike Slide Mountain (which, while challenging, is most rewarding breathtaking views), admire Kaaterskill Falls in all its glory and go fly fishing in Esopus Creek while enjoying the more cultural side of the region in Woodstock, Tannersville and even Windham.
Once again, the local cuisine is too good to pass up, especially when it comes to all the fresh produce, artisanal cheeses and farm-brewed beers – just try a meal at Farm table and come back to me.
Finger Lakes
Named after the 11 long, narrow lakes that, you guessed it, resemble fingers, this central New York region is the ultimate paradise for all you nature lovers and artistic souls.
Boating, fishing, swimming, waterfall hunting – you name it, it’s all possible!
Watkins Glen State Parkin particular, is not to be missed, and believe me when I tell you that it really is as good as they say.
Hikers will also be happy to hear that there is a 933 kilometer trail named after the region that takes you along some of the most beautiful hiking trails. picturesque forestswaterfalls and hills you’ve ever seen, but if you’re looking for something shorter and more practical, the Taughannock Falls State Park trail is also an excellent choice.
Between all these adventures, where are you going to experience the local culture, you may wonder?
My top picks are Ithaca, Geneva and Canandaigua.
