After a long, scorching summer, fall is finally upon us, and whether you’re already dreaming of vast swaths of crimson fall leaves or not ready to say goodbye to that summer weather, chances are you’ve already started plan your next outing.

Well, you’re not exactly alone, as a large number of your fellow Americans are now planning off-season vacations, with Searches for flights are up 15% year-on-yearaccording to Expedia.com––and that’s not the only relevant data presented in their report Fall Travel Outlook:

If you’re wondering where American travelers will flock to in large numbers this fall these are the top 3 fastest growing destinationsas reported by the travel agency:

Indianapolis

Perhaps surprisingly to some, Indianapolis – or Indy, as locals colloquially call it – has seen the biggest increase in flight searches this fall, up 120%.

This may be partly explained by the fact that Taylor Swift’s record-breaking Eras Tour is stopping by Indiana’s capital in early November, but dressing up in dazzling costumes to belt out pop gems can’t be the only reason Americans are descending on Indy this fall.

With a downtown packed with museums, iconic buildings that preserve America’s neoclassical grandeur, including the State Capitol, and a vibrant Broad Ripple, lined with casual bars and al fresco dining options, it is one of the most underrated city trips in the country.

And if you ask us, no trip to Indianapolis is complete without stopping by St. Elmo Steakhouse to try their ‘fiery’ shrimp cocktail, just make sure you have a glass of water on hand.

Oh, let’s not forget the foliage!

Indianapolis is an absolute banger in the low season, with his picturesque, green parks a vibrant pumpkin orange and crimson red, and local cafes updating their menu to match the atmosphere – oh, before you look for the nearest Starbucks, stop by Lulu’s Cafe in the North side.

You won’t be disappointed.

Tulum

After a 70% increase in searches this season, partly attributed to the launch of multiple flight routes from the United States, Tulum is the second trendiest fall outing.

This smaller, more laid-back coastal hub, which puts Cancun on the edge of the road, offers not only all-inclusive hotels, but also some of Mexico’s best-known – check out Hyatt’s Secrets Tulum––but the seaside resort lacks all the cultural appeal and Old World charm:

Culture vultures will fly from all over the US (and the wider world) to catch a glimpse of the mystical Tulum Ruins, with its signature temple perched on a hill overlooking the turquoise Caribbean – the quintessential postcard photo for the Mexican Caribbean .

Aside from its fascinating culture, so is Tulum is expected to host the Mayan Train start this month: Soon, vacationers will be able to travel all the way north to beloved beach hotspot Playa Del Carmen, bustling Cancun itself, and yellow-washed colonial treasure Izamal.

Mallorca

With a comparable increase of 70% this year, Mallorca is the number one in Spain third most sought after destination for Americans taking some time off and heading out this season.

Maybe it’s the fact that seasonal flights depart from Newark every week, maybe it’s the irresistible lure of a Mediterranean holiday, but the Spanish island is about as popular in the fall as it has been all summer:

Whether it is the charming capital Palma, with its fortified Gothic church, the centuries-old stone villages scattered across the hilly hinterland, or the unspoilt, sandy calas that hugs the coastline, surrounded by seas of the gleaming blue, Mallorca has all the Old World charm you’re looking for, and then some.

There are countless hidden gems to discover in the compact, yet packed with sights islabut if you love medieval villages frozen in time and getting lost in cobbled streets leading to hidden courtyards and picturesque churches, then the enchanting Valldemossa should definitely be on your list.

Oh, and don’t forget to stop by S’ Estretan intimate cafe with room for only 12 people, where you can enjoy the tastiest tapas of your entire trip.

The critical acclaim it has garnered TripAdvisor don’t even do it justice, trust us.
