The designs
Ralph Lauren, Proenza Schouler, area
Ralph Lauren, the quintessential American designer, has delivered a collection that perfectly captures the preppy, cowboy-chic aesthetic of the Hamptons. Crystal-embellished denim button-downs paired with fringed boot-cut jeans, cable-knit turtlenecks with American flag motifs and breezy prairie dresses evoked a nostalgic sense of Americana.
Jack McCollough And Lazaro Hernandez The Proenza Schouler collection offered a fresh take on nautical clothing. Breton stripes, clean lines, origami-like folds and fringes combine to create a modern yet timeless look. The collection showcased the designers’ ability to reinterpret classic trends while maintaining their signature aesthetic.
To celebrate its 10th anniversary, Area presented a collection that pushed the boundaries of fashion. Beaded hands, compact nylon hands and punk-inspired spikes explored the tension between conformity and rebellion. Area’s ability to continue to innovate after a decade in the industry solidified its position as a leader in avant-garde design.
Collina Strada, Prabal Gurung, Sergio Hudson
by Hillary Taymour The Collina Strada collection emphasized a return to basics with ultra-soft dresses, bubble skirts and visible bloomers. The nostalgic charm of the collection was enhanced by playful prints, decorated flowers and layered ruffles. In addition, there is the varied casting, with models such as Mara Hoffman, Aaron Rose PhillipAnd Elizabeth Sweetheartadded to the inclusivity and appeal of the collection.
Prabal Gurung’s “Holi Hope” collection celebrated the joy and color of the Holi festival through pleated textures, flowing chiffons and vibrant hues. The optimistic spirit of the collection provided a refreshing contrast to the often stern tone of the fashion industry. Campillo’s debut show at NYFW showcased a combination of hard and soft elements. Distressed tailoring, delicate chiffon and a palette of earth tones redefined classic codes from the designer’s Mexican heritage.
Sergio Hudson’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection offered a nostalgic nod to the 1960s with classic silhouettes and signature tailoring. The addition of menswear, with monochrome, relaxed shirt-and-pants combinations in a pastel palette, marked a new direction for the designer. Evening wear, including strapless black dresses and embellished halter dresses, completed the collection.
