If you feel like flying somewhere warm now, but don’t want to blow your entire travel budget for the year, there’s only one right answer: Latin America.
It’s a whole world of dreamy beach hubs, fascinating cities and incredible food all wrapped up in a budget-friendly package, and while that’s usually true across the board, some countries offer better deals than others.
So today we’ll look at the latter Hello Safe report on the cheapest and most expensive destinations around the world in search of the best value Latin American hubs.
The ranking was based on a study that looked at the average daily budget needed for one traveler in 136 countries around the world. It turns out that the following gems can all be visited for less than $67 per day.
Cuba
With an estimated daily cost of just $51, Cuba is officially the cheapest Latin American country you can visit right now, and the craziest part is that you get so much for your money too.
Whether you stay in a casa specific (a type of local guesthouse) or a 5-star resort, you can be sure you’re getting a good deal – this beautiful room at one of Havana’s top-rated boutique hotels currently costs just $20 a night, so if I were you, I’d run and not walk to book my dates.
In Cuba you can spend your days lazing around Varadero and Playa Girón free walking toursand enjoy a delicious meal at one of the many local paladares for just $5-$10.
Colombia
Since Colombia has just been named one of the fastest growing destinations in the world, maybe it’s time to check it off your bucket list and see what all the fuss is about. If this recent growth continues uninterrupted, the country could turn into a tourist overcrowded area. fall faster than you think, so you’ll want to move fast.
Between Bogotá, Medellin, Cartagena and Santa Marta, you’re spoiled for choice when it comes to finding a city that’s both breathtaking and reasonably priced.
And whether you’re planning more of a typical city break with lots of sightseeing sessions or a more relaxing beach holiday, you’ll probably never spend more than $55 per day here.
Guatemala
Moving on to what we at Travel Off Path consider to be Central America’s most underrated gem, Guatemala, promising all the awe-inspiring views, uninhibited fun, shockingly cheap prices and, yes, even safety you could dream of.
You can stay indoors for just over 60 euros per day great hotelsexplore everything from iconic churches like La Merced to quaint viewpoints like Cerro de la Cruz, and even hike to the Volcán de Pacaya – while saving enough money for a plate of pepián de pollo, chile rellenos and hilachas along with a good glass of cusha .
Bolivia
If you really want to see how much you can get for the least amount of money, you can’t go wrong with a trip to Bolivia.
Here a hearty meal rarely (if ever) exceeds $5, hostels start at just $10 per night in most major cities, La Paz’s famous “teleférico” with some of the most incredible views of the city costs just $ 0.43 for a ride and 5 star hotels like this regularly charge less than $100 per night.
Luxury experiences on a backpacking budget? It really doesn’t get much better than this!
Nicaragua
I wanted to wrap things up with another one of those places that I think are constantly overlooked and make people miss a lot.
Since we’re done sleeping in these beautiful, lesser-known places this season, Nicaragua should be at the top of your bucket list.
With his $30 hotelsunique culture and surreal volcanic views (a hike to Mombacho Volcano or Masaya National Park is a must), this fantastic Latin American country promises the experience of a lifetime for less than $67 a day.
