Even though I am a very active person, I also really enjoy lounge life. When the weather gets colder and the light fades faster, I’m ready to activate my sleep mode. Now I wouldn’t necessarily have put myself out there as some kind of tracksuit. Call me a snob, but tracksuits have certain connotations that I don’t think really fit the look I was going for in life. In fact, the last time I wore a tracksuit was the late 80s when neon shellsuits were a thing, so it’s really not like I have much to base my judgment on, to be honest! However, my opinion changed when, in my role as an adidas blogger, a campaign surfaced asking me to review a few adidas bloggers women’s tracksuits.
Before I decided which one to choose, I thought I would let my teenage daughter participate as well. If I thought I was good at lounging, she’s really next level. We’re talking about an elite-level lounger. There’s nothing that girl loves more than a good old lounge. I mean, all teenagers are like that, right!?! So when I told her that I had a gift voucher to spend on the Adidas website and if she wanted to help me spend it on loungewear, I have never seen her jump out of bed so quickly. She likes to lounge, but she also likes to shop even more!
If you also love a lounger, read on to see which adidas women’s tracksuits my daughter and I picked out for our lazy day of lounging:
Laziday tracksuit
It’s rather fitting that the first tracksuit I chose is called the Laziday Tracksuit. I hadn’t even seen the name before I decided I liked it; in fact, I didn’t clock him until I sat down to write this. But does it live up to its name?
Well, I think so, yes. It’s super soft and really comfortable. I ordered it in medium and usually have a size 10/12 on the top and a size 12 on the bottom half and it fit really well. Slouchy and comfortable, but not too loose to look scruffy. I went for Gray Heather, a beautiful soft light gray color, but it is also available in Black and Tent Green/Chalk White.
It’s so nice to chill in. And considering how anti-tracksuits I was, I literally lived in these! Officially a tracksuit convert. I wear it while lounging on Sundays. Watch a movie on Friday evening. I walk the dog in it. I do the cleaning in it. I wore it after recently doing an ultramarathon – the best feeling of changing into something warm and cozy when your body feels completely battered. When the top and bottom are worn together it’s a totally casual look, probably something I would only wear around the house if I’m honest. However, when the crew neck top is paired with jeans or leggings it gives the look a bit of a boost and I would love to wear it to lunch, or to go to a cafe etc.
The Laziday tracksuit is made of French Terry cotton blend, which makes it feel wonderfully soft. Furthermore, around 70% of it is a mix of recycled and renewable materials, which is in line with the adidas ethos and something I particularly like about the brand. The pants have pockets, which is always a plus for me, and they have an elastic waist with a drawstring, so you can pull them in for a snug fit, then release them slightly once you’ve eaten a big Sunday dinner. Gotta love an elastic waist!
Energize tracksuit
In absolutely direct contrast to the Laziday tracksuit, this is called the Energize tracksuit. But listen, this is about us enjoying lounging, so yes, while you could do something energetic in this tracksuit if you wanted, we’re keeping it nice and cool for now.
Both me and my daughter loved these so we went all matchy matchy. She chose the color Sandy Pink and I went for Black (you can also get it in Linen Green). She’s 14, which means the days when they’re ‘allowed’ to wear the same thing as her are virtually non-existent. But her mother could wear this tracksuit…as long as I didn’t also order the Sandy Pink option!
The Energize Tracksuit is made of a fleece mix, which makes it wonderfully cozy and warm, but also has enough stretch to allow you to move freely. Naturally, it features the signature adidas 3-stripes, but these are stitched in the same color as the rest of the tracksuit, so it’s a more subtle design than some other adidas women’s tracksuits out there.
The track pants have a high waist, always a big plus for me, and have a loose fit with an elastic waist and drawstring. And the full zip top also has a drawstring hood. My daughter has already worn the pink tracksuit a lot. Baby pink is one of her favorite colors and as soon as she saw it she thought, yes, that’s the only mother. And since I went with the black option, they actually look very different, which is probably why she doesn’t mind me having the same one!
Essentials loose cut hoodie with 3 stripes and full zip
As much as I love wearing tracksuits around the house for a weekend, I’m a hoody girl through and through, so you’re much more likely to see me in an adidas hoodie than in a full set. This was what influenced my final choice for the order. I wanted to go for a classic and the Essentials Loose-Cut 3-Stripes Full-Zip Hoodie is about as classic as you can get. I like that it lasts everything. Throw it on after a run, wear it over pajamas, style it with jeans, wear it instead of a jacket when the weather is still relatively mild: this hoodie is the epitome of versatility.
The design is inspired by classic sports training tops, which is reflected in the slightly retro design. The hoodie is black, with the classic adidas white 3-stripes, and has a full zip with a drawstring hood. The fit is loose in the body, with slightly fitted sleeves and sits at the waist, for a very flattering silhouette.
Like I’m sure I said, I love a pocket, I mean, let’s be honest, what woman doesn’t love one?! Not only does this hoodie have pockets, it also has a kangaroo pocket, which if you didn’t know (don’t worry, I totally had to Google it, although it’s pretty self-explanatory) is a large pocket, like a kangaroo pocket where you you can insert both hands and that extends across the front of the garment. The hoodie is comfortable, practical, stylish and feels like an old favorite from the moment you first put it on. Because everyone has a favorite hoodie, right? The one you always grab, the one that just feels good, the one that goes with everything, the reliable one. And this is that hoodie.
Who would have thought I would be as excited about adidas women’s tracksuits as I am, but I’m a convert, they are incredible. I like to think of them as socially acceptable pajamas. They are as comfortable as pajamas, but it is socially acceptable to wear them outdoors. And wearing a tracksuit at home for the weekend doesn’t make me feel nearly as sloppy as if I had stayed in my pajamas, that just wouldn’t be good. But this way I can live the lounge life without feeling like I just got out of bed.
Of all the adidas women’s tracksuits I’ve ordered, the Laziday is my favorite. Since it arrived, I’ve practically lived in it for a weekend and it’s become my favorite comfort piece for lounging in. If you are someone who, like me, was very strongly against wearing tracksuits, I recommend that you give them a try. Be warned: once you put one on and experience how comfortable they are… there’s no going back!
