If you’re already thinking of a plan to escape a bitterly cold winter, look no further than the Mediterranean!

This region is home to some of the most stunning destinations on earth, many of which offer summer sunshine that will lure you away from your fireplace and onto a beach lounger.

Doesn’t sound half bad, right?

Italy and Greece may be the tourist titans of the Mediterranean, and rightly so, but there’s one beautiful island that sometimes gets lost in the mix.

The fantastic island Cyprus is a textbook paradise.

Better yet, it’s super affordable! Holidays around the world don’t have to be expensive, especially in Cyprus’s most unspoilt beach getaway.

The paradise town Paphos has everything you could ever want and need in the winter.

Is Cyprus worth traveling around the world?

Sometimes the juice just isn’t worth it. Or at least that’s what I tell myself in the mirror while jamming to that one Lizzo song…

In In this case the journey may be long, but it is not That much further than hopping around the bountiful Greek islands or traveling an attack on one of the emerging hotspots on the coast of Turkiye.

Cyprus is not near the most notable names of Italy or Greece; it’s actually closer to the Middle East, believe it or not.

But don’t be put off by the ‘Middle East’ either with world affairs that we leave to the talking heads of the mainstream news – Cyprus is completely safe (no travel advice updates since July 2023).

Despite its location, it is 100% European, and even the euro is used as a means of payment.

Although the biggest criticism is about the way the country is divided, don’t worry, even those conflicts have taken a huge step forward as a holiday resort in Cyprus has reopened to the public for the first time in decades!

All in all, any concerns about Cyprus should be put to rest right away, but it’s natural to wonder if the flight time is worth it since there are no direct flights from the US.

Well, the proof is in the pudding.

This dot on the map has been on the rise for years and their dreamy beaches have attracted a record number of tourists this year.

Paphos is a sight to behold all year round, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if the seaside resort’s tourism records continue throughout the winter, as temperatures are far from comparable to what you’ll experience at home.

Cyprus has a mild winter, especially the closer you are to the coast, making this one of the Mediterranean’s best hidden gems to escape the cold.

The atmosphere here is super relaxed, so you can wander at your own pace without feeling the need to keep up.

Wake up and head to a local cafe and spend your days lounging on the beach in the sun along pristine blue waters.

Not to mention postcard worthy Adonis Baths (waterfall) for swimming, one of Paphos’ most popular attractions.

However, when it comes to beaches, travelers claim they love these 3 beaches the most (according to TripAdvisor):

  • Paphos Municipal Beach ($8 umbrellas)
  • St. George Beach
  • Vardas Beach

But for more peace and serenity, you can head to more secluded beaches such as Aphrodite or the Blue Lagoon of Akamas.

Perhaps the most unique aspect is how incredibly beautiful and historic Paphos is all in one.

Growing scene of digital nomads

According to FTN newsone of the destinations to keep an eye on amid the digital craze is none other than Paphos.

With very affordable long-term stays, it’s all the more appealing to never leave this place. Well, you have to leave at some point, but as long as you do Cyprus Digital Nomad Visa you are on track to stay for a maximum of 3 years in total.

Apartments can be found for as little as $800 per month, which shouldn’t be a problem with the $3,700 income you need to earn.

With so many attractions, spacious cafes and co-working spaces and an array of beautiful beaches, why would you want to ‘work’ anywhere else?
