Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Malaysia’s vibrant capital, Kuala Lumpur, is a jungle of steel-clad high-rises decorated with Islamic motifs – dotted with the odd British colonial monument – that is attracting a huge expat population recently, and you may be wondering what some of the reasons for this are.

It’s a breath of fresh air on a continent where underdevelopment is widespread, without the associated high costs: Airbnb rentals start from $439 per month, you can eat affordably for less than five dollars at local restaurants, and overall: the cost of living is an estimated $1,355 per month.
Asuncion, Paraguay
Forget Buenos Aires! The fastest growing digital nomad center in the South is Paraguay’s criminally underrated Asunción, a stately capital with colonial facades, vibrant street markets and, of course, friendly locals… the usual Latin American combination.
While life in Buenos Aires has become significantly more expensive in recent years, largely due to the fluctuating currency, Asunción remains a budget-friendly alternative. 50 cent empanadasweekly groceries under $20, and $428 in rent.
