Fiji is a tropical island paradise with white sandy beaches and dreamy landscapes.
It’s a bucket list destination and a record-breaking destination.
According to Tourism Fiji Visitor numbers for 2024 are already 6.5% higher than last year. This means that the number of visitors to the country has reached a record high.
And now visiting Fiji is easier than ever, because Americans can fly nonstop to Fiji from these four American cities.
New flights between Dallas and Fiji
Fiji Airways has launched new non-stop flights between Dallas and Nadi International Airport, with the first flights departing on December 10.
Flights take place three times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The route takes 13 hours each way and means 1,000 passengers can travel directly between Dallas and Fiji each week.
The most important question of course is how much will these brand new flights cost?
I looked through some sample routes via the Fiji Airways website. Departing on Tuesday, January 7 and returning on Tuesday, January 14 costs $351 for the outbound flight and $443.11 for the return flight. a total price of $794.11.
This is based on an economy class seat and a ticket at a discounted rate. A reduced fare ticket includes meals, drinks, hand luggage and a checked bag of 30 kg. But excluding seat selection, which is available at an additional cost.
Existing flights between the US and Fiji
This isn’t the only direct route between the US and Fiji. There are already three existing direct flights to Fiji, departing from Los Angeles, San Francisco and Honolulu.
The flight from Los Angeles takes 11 hours and 10 minutes, the flight from San Francisco takes 11 hours and 25 minutes. Because it is much closer, the flight to Fiji from Honolulu takes only 6 hours and 50 minutes.
In addition to three routes, there are ten airlines flying from the United States to Fiji.
I looked to see what the cheapest route was.
You can expect payment in January $657 for a round trip flight from Honolulu to Fiji. To get this prize you would travel from January 11th and return on January 19th. This flight is with Fiji Airways. Qantas also has same-day flights, but the price for these is almost double: $1,193.
If you prefer to fly from San Francisco and then fly on January 12th and return on January 19th, you can count on to pay $1,248. These flights are with Qantas.
Why visit Fiji?
Fiji consists of 332 islands, divided into nine island groups. The main island, and the most popular with travelers, is Viti Levu. Partly that’s because Nadi International Airport is located here.
Fiji is a popular destination for honeymooners and even weddings, but there is something for everyone here. Or at least for anyone who wants to relax on palm-lined beaches and hike through lush jungles.
For adventurous travelers, you can enjoy a whole host of adrenaline-pumping activities in Fuji, ranging from the usual ones like snorkeling and diving to the really high octane ones like whitewater rafting or even swimming with sharks.
With Beqa Adventure Divers you can book a shark dive in Fiji, where you have the opportunity to come face to face with up to 8 species of sharks and up to 450 species of fish. This costs FJ$475 ($208) per person.
Looking for a more sedate (or at least less fussy) experience? With Talanoa Treks you can take a group walk through the heart of Fiji, exploring the nature and green vegetation and encountering remote communities.
These day trips start from FJ$50 ($22) per person.
