The Caribbean is the destination par excellence if you want a relaxing beach holiday. However, the most popular Caribbean destinations so far are Dominica, Cuba, St. Lucia and the Bahamas.
St. Vincent and the Grenadines– an island nation made up of 32 islands and bays – has not been one of the most popular Caribbean destinations. However, in 2023, approximately 394,000 international tourists visited this island, an increase of 89% from the previous year.
New resorts in St. Vincent and the Grenadines
One of the main reasons why the number of tourists in this destination is increasing is because new resorts have recently opened here. One is the Sandals St. Vincent which opened in March 2024; it is located in a private bay, surrounded by forests and a river. Here you will find 11 dining options, 9 bars and a number of swimming pools and activities. There is also the Mandarin Oriental which opened in September 2024. It previously operated under a different name: the Pink Sand Club. This hotel features luxurious beachfront accommodations, fine dining, a spa and a golf course.
New air routes to St. Vincent and the Grenadines
Due to the strong interest in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, American Airlines recently unveiled new routes to this island. One is from Charlotte, NC to St. Vincent, and the other is from New York, NY to St. Vincent.
Both routes run non-stop from their starting point to their destination. You can hop on these flights once a week, on Saturdays, on a Boeing 737 and reach St. Vincent in just 4 hours and 30 minutes from Charlotte/4 hours and 45 minutes from NYC.
Drop in airline prices to the Caribbean
Keep in mind that flights to the Caribbean are about 17% cheaper this year, with the cheapest fares from New York, NY. Now you can travel from New York to Turks and Caicos for $405 round trip and to Aruba for just $351.
From Chicago, fares are slightly higher at $490 to Montego Bay. From Miami you can get a round trip ticket to Punta Cana for $423. So if you’ve been thinking about taking a trip to the Caribbean for a while, now is the time to put your plan into action.
