Sunny San Diego. Well, usually …
“America’s Finest City” is not immune to incidental rain showers and a few months of gray skies. Holidaymakers are often disappointed by “May Gray” and “June darkness”, because the locals have dubbed them.
In addition to checking the weather forecast, there are 4 exciting new things that every traveler should know when he visits San Diego in 2025.

First you may want to check the airport where you are flying.
Secondly, before you book your stay, there is a few lush new ‘Firsts’ that touches San Diego Shores.
Finally, crossing to Mexico will become a lot easier. You can bypass the ‘busiest boundary in the world’ without getting the foot in neighboring tijuana – and no, it is not a favorite travel mash in the locals, the Cross Border Xpress.
So, without further delay, here are 4 exciting things that travelers should know when visiting San Diego in 2025:
1) American Airlines is now flying to Carlsbad
San Diego is often categorized in 4 quadrants: North County, Central, East County and South Bay.

As such, visitors sometimes miss the joys of North County, given the headache-inducing traffic by a cluster of unspoilt beach cities.
Well, that no longer has to be the case, especially because Carlsbad in particular should be a destination city in itself.
McCLellan-Palomar Airport is being reopened for commercial traffic, where American Airlines gambles large on the carlsbad potential with the first and only flight (for the time being) to launch February 13 from Phoenix.
Loos than half an hour from Orange County and about 40 minutes from the most important attractions of San Diego, Carlsbad can be used as an entrance gate to other cool places or your base, because it is home to beautiful beaches, luxury resorts and LEGOLANDA popular place for families who do not want to handle everything that is accompanied by Giggly Oversized Rodents from Anaheim.

Travel tip: American Airlines now also flies non-stop to Tijuana, the only American airline in the city.
2) Avoid LEGOLAND! San Diego’s first resort for adults alone
On closer thought, if you are not Traveling with the children in tow and preferably avoiding the couple under 18, there is only exciting news for you.
A few miles away I-5 is the coastal paradise of Encinitas, the home base of countless celebrities hiding for Hollywood (Smart Move!), A close-knit surfers community and several stunning beaches such as one of my favorites, Moonlight Beach.
What you may not know is Encinitas’s home base Alila Marea Beach ResortIt turns into the sole of San Diego only adult resort.

Could there be a better reopening date as such than Valentine’s Day? Just don’t come back home with a sandwich in the oven …
A little bit beats the goal, doesn’t it?
3) A new era of tourism with the inaugural resort of Chula Vista
Chula Vista is usually far away from the radar of tourists and is often seen as one of the best cities in San Diego County to score cheap (er) rent.
Heck, that’s what made me move here! To be honest, Chula Vista has been a pleasant surprise with picturesque mountain coverings, an underrated city center and endless Tijuana-style Taco stores without having to step the border.

Soon Chula Vista San Diego’s will often overlook South Bay in the spotlight with the big opening of the very first resort of the city, Gaylord Pacific Resort & Convention CenterWith 1600 rooms and 12 restaurants and bars.
Gaylord scored Prime Real Estate, because this area is the last border of the untouched coasts of San Diego along the San Diego Bay of Chula Vista, with epic views of the coast of the west on the popular holiday spot Coronado.
According to the local news source NBC 7There will be one soft opening mid -May, followed by an official Grand opening in July.

4) Save the border! New direct ferry in the “Napa” of Mexico
I go to Tijuana every month. Despite the fact that it has a Sentri card, crossing the border can still be a rut, which is often a deterrent for fellow -californians and tourists who want to see what it is all about in Noord -Baja.
Moreover, Tijuana has a sketchy reputation. Not everyone wants to take that chance. The neighboring city Tecate (yes, That Tecate that you may have in your fridge) is generally considered much safer, as an entrance gate to the beautiful Van Mexico Valle de GuadalupeUsually called “napa” from Mexico.

Stretching Tecate to Ensenada is the Ruta del VinoA picturesque wine route that passes countless vineyards, luxury resorts and bucket list Airbnbs.
While most Americans start their wine adventures in Tecate, A new direct ferry Able to wear a maximum of 330 passengers from San Diego, will change that.
Planned to launch in May (If necessary, tests go according to plan in April), the Azteca -spring boat Will travelers give the ultimate Maas in the law to bypass the hectic border, which often has 3 hours of waiting times in the San Ysidro-Haven of arrival.
Tickets are not yet sale, but as the last we reported that prices were expected in the range of $ 100. However, a schedule has been placed on the Azteca Ferries website:

11.30 am – 2.30 pm
19:00 – 21:00
7 am – 9:30 am
15:00 – 17:00
Travel tip: If you complete the entire Ensenada-Tecate Wine Route, I cannot recommend 4-star Santuario Diegueño Enough to rest and enjoy sensational food in restaurant on-site, Asao.
