In handwritten vows, followed by an exchange of rings, Mr. Marchetto told Mr Bowen that their love transcends the kind of risk in a short circuit. “After 15 years together we have empathy,” he said. “Our love is suitable for errors.” Mr. Bowen told Mr. Marchetto that their love strives to ‘feed, not to devour’.
Mr. Marchetto, who torn up during his vows, had read the room during the ceremony. “For me it was very real, very big, so of course I cried,” he said. He did not expect the audience to share his depth of feeling.
“Fashion editors are usually very cool people,” he said. “But they cried too.”

A real treat After the couple sunk the runway, assistants rode in a seven-layer wedding cake. On top were custom designed miniatures of the grooms. “We made them the way we looked every day,” said Mr. Marchetto. His statue was equipped in shorts and a backward baseball cap, with a hoodie around his waist; Mr. Bowen’s wore a white collared shirt and sneakers.
Support and solidarity Mr. Bowen still goes to 12-step groups. And Mr. Marchetto has been sober “by Proxy,” said Mr Bowen for more than a decade. “We create everything completely sober.”
The altar The grooms designed the altar, with a mix of velvet and sequins, for which landing job models and parents posed. “We have based it on old references from films,” said Mr Bowen. After the wedding, attended by what Mr Bowen called ‘many very serious fashionista types’, the couple received good wishes from other designers and people in the industry. “We were humble and surprised by the reaction,” he said.
