Are you ready to give San Francisco another chance? I just did it.

After well-documented crime waves became viral in the once mega-popular city full of iconic attractions, many travelers have since looked at San Fran on the side, wondering whether it is safe to visit.

And rightly – a city where many locals have been withdrawn in recent years in a corner of choosing to let their vehicles unlock instead of running the risk that their windows will be taken at night.

While I made it intact (well, after Frontier left me stranded), there is undoubtedly San Francisco again a huge draw for tourists.

This was my fourth time that I visited this city, and I have never seen the famous fisherman’s photo or the complicated labyrinth of Chinatown Buwer on a normal day.

Chinese New Year is a different story….

As beautiful as the cityscape of San Francisco can be stacked with sloping hills with pastel Edwardian elegance, quiet, picturesque coasts and lush, green distant neighbors, there is a charming hiding place tourists who too often skip the village-like island of Alameda Is a local favorite to escape from the city.

Swap Tourist -Falls for Authenticity

How we are misled to pay to see a prison, ideally the type of establishment that nobody would ever want to step into his right mind is by me.

But again, I did it, so I can’t talk too much. If you have been to San Francisco, you cannot miss the apparently endless row of boats that are in and around the fisherman of the Visser who advertise for these tours, and the non -resolving suppliers who hand your pamphlets with special prices ‘Only for today’.

Instead of doing how every tourist seems to witness an island with nothing but take pictures and re -making the same old story that we have heard a million times, why do they go no further than the norm and discover somewhere new by visiting a less well -known island hidden in sight?

Although you don’t have to completely skip Alcatraz, because the two islands are completely different, you would essentially pay extra to include a similar panoramic view of ‘The Bay’ has long been known.

The San Francisco Bay Ferry offers daily service From the center of San Francisco to Main Street Alameda, from 7:05 am and runs every hour until 9:10 pm on weekdays and a later start at 9:20 am. – And yes, you can Clip card As long as you retain at least $ 5.40 cash balance.

You can also choose to stop at the Jack London Square in Oakland. To be honest, if this attempt on the water to charm is the highlight of the city, it is easy to see why Oakland has the reputation.

I vote over and go straight to Alameda for golden beaches overlooking the city, real Down-home charm and surprising attractions.

What to do in Alameda

Because it belongs to a small town, some may think that a snoozfest is waiting for nothing. In the case of Alameda that is simply not true.

In my modest opinion, your first stop should be Park Street For a feeling of nostalgia because it is covered with historic buildings, boutiques, mother and pop restaurants and cafés, such as such as such as Ole’s waffle shopWhere the locals go for fuel.

From there this small island is your oyster with picturesque beaches and intriguing attractions ranging from an off-the-wall Pinball Museumthe USS Hornet Sea, Air & Space Museum For history lovers and urban wineries to relax in peace and silence of the unpredictable chaos of the urban wild growth of San Francisco.

Hidden away from “Action-Packed” Park Street, there are countless wineries and breweries, such as Dadhe Cellars For more advanced taste buds and Almanac Beer Co. For those who like to give a cold and enjoy a nice terrace.

As for the beaches, there is no shortage in Alameda, but do not expect Malibu. Remember that this is the bay – think view, not swell.

Robert W. Crown Memorial State Beach Provides demonstrably the best landscape. A recent beachgoer claimed that this beach “is a hidden gem for lovers of sunset!” And said: “The hiking trail is perfect for a quiet walk and the view of San Francisco over the bay is absolutely breathtaking.”

I personally enjoyed the Ballena Lookout Walk for a nice sunset opposite this beach.

To stay where – Alameda Or San Francisco?

Do not expect flashy luxurious towers from San Francisco. This place exudes a charm and extends in its few and far between the hotel scene.

Stay in a comfortable boutique on the water Marina Village Inn or Coral Reef Inn & Suites Along Alameda Beach on the other side, between a few chains such as Hawthorne Suites.

With his lack of hotels and accessible convenience with spacious ferries, it is the best match to stay in San Francisco as I did.

Instead of going with the norm, I chose first to dive into the head to the various range of cultures of the city by choosing to keep up Taj Campton PlaceA brand luxurious in India with only 2 American hotels.

Do yourself a favor and make this conveniently located Hotel Smack Dab in Union Square (and a quick walk to Chinatown) if your basis, and don’t skip the omelet and the pot of Chai to start your day.
