While many travelers sort out a pristine coastlines for a spring to remember, National Geographic says that you should make other plans in a city that you would expect the least.
Instead of spending chic resorts and white sandy beaches, you think of Down-home charm, sensational comfort food and the OG of live music as the ‘birthplace of rock’ n roll ‘.
The home base of the blues, delicious barbecue and infectious southern hospitality, National Geographic gives the ever-trendy Nashville the boot in favor of another city in Tennessee, despite his doubtful reputation.

The home base of World-Ramous Beale Street, renowned barbecue joints and a flourishing music scene that is in the test of time, Memphis Has been crowned first place in the US to visit this spring.
When specific? To answer that, the famous Memphis resident Justin Timberlake tried to tell us all together with the popular hook of NSYNC: “It will be Mayyyyy”.
Memphis – Really?

Truth is Memphis is a classic southern staple, but you don’t hear about it often because Nashville has taken the south as the place for foodies, Honkke-Tonkers and All-Round music fans.
Memphis is best known for bar -lined Beale Street and beautiful barbecue food speckled through the city (although I personally recommend Crockpot Frito Pie when it is on the menu).
Although these attractions are still true today, Memphis has taken on a new claim to announce that it certainly does not want to-a cities of crime of America’s most crime.
Crime is one of those topics that can be fickle to report. An accusation is not the same as a conviction. Conversely, crime sub -report makes it a challenge to present accurate statistics.

If you are here to enjoy the joys of the center and the wide barbecue scene, it doesn’t sweat. But the real concern is that you will find in the crossfire of dilapidated neighborhoods, some of which I have undergone and be able to confirm that it is not a place where you ‘want to play stupid games, will win stupid prices.
That said, I love Memphis, but the real reason why Nat Geo cancel it this spring is largely due to the fun festivities that are planned for Mayyyyy (sorry, it’s now in my head).
New attractions and action -collected festivals

At a time when travel advice is issued on the left and right, it would be a difficult sale to tell travelers to put safety on the rear burner.
In the same breath, however, the embrace of hefty investments to make their city more hospitable is appreciated and that is exactly what Memphis has done.
There are numerous New Hotels Catering for visitors, but the most striking upgrade must be the approximately $ 50 million transformation of Riverfront Tom Lee Parkthat now new pavilions, noise gardens and the Canopy walk – A picturesque path along the Mississippi River that connects the center.

Mark your calendars before 14-17 May for barbecue chefs and burn the calories of May 24 when you are ready for a 5K, 10k or a half marathon.
In other words, you can easily spend a whole week in Memphis if your schedule allows you to feel that you have to visit the usual suspects of Graceland or the Memphis pyramid, which, strangely enough, houses Bass Pro shops -much less interesting than what is said to be found under Giza.
Where to eat and where to stay

Instead of packing swimwear and sandals for a beach trip, you might pack an extra shirt or two. Believe me, you will understand why Tim McGraw sang about barbecue stains as soon as you taste the ribs of Memphis.
My favorite place to vary, well … pig … is none other than Rendez -vousA legendary chapter Memphis.
According to Southern lifeThese are the top 5 restaurants for Memphis Barbecue:
